I dont think theres an ideal number. I have just shy of 200 and have a cull every year or two.

back on Facebook gaming's heyday, i had over 1500 friends.
those stupid games with stupid requirements of having thousands of friends to pass some levels.

tried to cut the numbers over the years, but eventually give up and simply stopped using it around 2016.

I only keep people I talk to, hence the periodic cull.

If you don't have at least 1,000 then you're a loser

I had like 50 friends on Facebook when I had it and that was already way too many. About 47 of those I didn't give a shit about anymore.

Whatever your actual friend count is irl -1 for every one that doesnt have Facebook.

500 fucking phony acquaintances. Yet you'd have to break your neck to get anyone of them to come see you just to see you. Thanks Facebook, everyone I "know" is either living their life like I never existed or they feel bad for me and don't want me to feel left out or some shit. Because there's nothing better than being patronized.

Good thing I'm not moving out or getting married anytime soon to really put in perspective the only people who would be there would only be because of obligatory family reasons and not because of something like a MEANINGFUL intimate relationship.

I'm actually taking the time to go through my list and break it down. I've been on FB since 2005/2006.

At present I have approximately 163 FB friends. Of these...

60 are from a message board I've been a member of for 22 years. 5 of which I've met in person.
19 I've met elsewhere online. 8 of which are from here on GameFAQs.
39 I went to high school with. Many I still see in person today. Some are still good friends of mine.
18 are other locals in my community
5 I knew in my childhood/elementary school days
12 are family members
5 are celebrities
5 I met through Twitch and Discord

i have like 7 "friends" and only 1 of them do i even play xbox with
