Option A:

-direct, 3-hour flight
-leave at 11:30PM (PT), get in at 6AM (ET)

Option B:
-one stop flight, 7 hours total flying and 1.5 hour layover
-leave at 7AM (PT), get in at 6:30PM (ET)

are the prices the same?

Overnight, no layover.

Always direct if its an option.

I'd take the redeye (option a). I don't want stops in my flight.

i would pick option A if the prices are similar, but if the layover is significantly cheaper, than B

Except the whole not sleeping thing (if you can't sleep on a plane such as myself). Not to mention I'd have to hang out at the airport for 7 hours until the plane leaves because hotel checkout is at 4.

I'll probably stick with it because of the shorter length, but it does mess up two days.

Yea, I was originally gonna add (if you can get some sleep on the flight). The whole having to hangout at the airport for 7 hours is absolutely brutal though. Probably enough to make me switch to B. >_>

Definitely B. If I took A, I would have a hard time falling asleep on the plane and that would basically ruin the next day. Option B is annoying because you have to wake up early and there is a layover, but I feel like I would be able to recover and it wouldn't ruin the next day. Also, a 90 minute layover is a nice amount of time where I could grab something to eat.

It's really annoying traveling from the west coast to the east coast though. I don't think people realize how hard it is on your body.

Option B is messing up one day, but for me Option A is messing up two days. Thus, I prefer option B.

Yeah that's a big challenge I am facing. I have Sky Club access, but I can't get in there until 3 hours before the flight. So I'm just carting luggage all over or I'm hanging out at some random spot in the airport until I can get into the club.

Oh it being a return flight is different. I was thinking just nap at home until it was time to head to the airport. But it's hard to do a flight that late if you're coming from a hotel. Then yeah I'd do option B if those are really your only options

Only reasonably priced options currently haha. One I like is about $500 more.

Direct flight

And I can't even sleep on a plane. But it provides less chance of luggage getting lost, missing connection or connection getting cancelled/delayed, not having to deal with boarding/unboarding twice, and simply I hate sitting around at airports waiting for flights.

What even is the appeal of option B?

That direct flight is pretty fast though, all things considered. It took me 3 hours just to fly from Los Angeles to Houston.

Can you leave your bags with the bellhop/front desk and grab dinner or have a small night out on the town?

For me, Option A. If a flight is early in the morning or late at night, I'm usually asleep before the place takes off.

But once you added all the qualifiers, I might go with option B.

Psh if you are saving $500 from these tickets rather than your preferred ticket, just do Option A and use some of the savings to have a good time rather than waiting 7 hours at the airport.
