I don't give one remote fuck about Scooby Doo but as someone who's vaguely familiar with it I can see why people are bothered that the show has nothing to do with the source material. ... Copied to Clipboard!

FortuneCookie posted... To me, Scooby Doo is like animated comfort food. It's always been there. It's okay. I kinda like it. I take it for granted. I'm not a huge fan of it. I could easily see others liking it more than I do. But I'm having trouble seeing why people are this upset about HBO's Velma. What's funny is the reason I can't get mad at modern Star Wars is because the original was my childhood. So when I see children today loving the modern movies with the same love and wonder that I had for the originals? I just can't hate it. The new movies don't appeal to me but clearly they still work. When I see kids name their animals Kylo or any other character, I just can't bring myself to despise Disney Star wars. The sequels don't stop my love of the originals and I am enjoying some of the TV shows and movies so it's not a shot to the heart too me. Velma on a far different level of bad. No one likes Velma, it has no target audience. It doesn't work. --- Release the Batgirl movie! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Personally I never liked Scooby Doo so I don't care one way or the other about Velma. That said, I think this trend of getting people who hate an IP to work on said IP and then fight with the fanbase is pretty lame. I understand that outrage drives engagement and that's all that matters anymore, but call me old fashioned but I liked it when the people making something liked the thing they were making, and didn't hate the fanbase from the get go. ...
