It's insanely lackluster if you've played any real RPG, I liked it when I was new to the genre but since I've realized it failed in nearly every way to be anything but a mod platform.

I still have ver fond memories of the game due to the time in my life it came out and its atmosphere/ost is unparalleled.

Just mod the fuck out of it. Endless fun. Machoman Aundwin (I forgot how to spell it) mod? Fuck yeah.

I don't think concepts of aging really applies to any game made after maybe 2008 or so... so ya, it still is good and decent.

thats my issue, the RPG mechanics are very shallow from what i remember. after playing demons souls, dark souls 1-3, Bloodborne and Elden ring, im expecting to be disappointed

There are mods that change how skills and leveling works.

Yeah skyrim is really shallow and a lot of it is obnoxiously repetitive like the dragon fights.

I loved it for a couple weeks but a switch flipped in my brain when I realized it was getting really tedious and then I just stopped cold turkey.

I won't lie and say that it isn't fun for one playthrough at least, but even then, there's a lot more offered up in other games in the same series. I just won't ever understand how people who played previous TES games can praise it when they keep removing skills and abilities.

Skyrim is an immersive sim. Play it like such and you can have tons of fun with it. Install hi res texture & mesh replacers, a weather & lighting overhaul, and enb shaders, and it can look amazing as well.
