I've always been willing to walk from a shit job. Sometimes it left me in a worse spot, sometimes it was exactly what needed to happen. It's definitely a gamble.

We've grown up aware of the hollowness of corporations and we know that 'loyalty' in the sense of staying with a job is not rewarded at the level it is supposedly valued.

Good. Nobody should put up with BS that is clearly wrong just for a paycheck.

Every generation has a response to what they perceive to be the failures of the generation before them, even if its subconsciously.

The last time companies valued their employees, was when boomers or the greatest generation were working.

Time to fucking change that.

I legit wish that I did. My dumb ass didnt want to go to college right after high school, so I worked at a local grocery store which was fine for what it is, but I shouldnt have stayed there as long as I did.

If I was smart, I wouldve definitely done some job hopping while I was living at home and didnt have to worry about rent and stuff just to TRY different jobs. But I grew up in an area where there werent a lot of jobs so I didnt really have options.

It's the only way to get ahead nowadays. There used to hypothetically be career paths where if you stayed in one job and did well, you'd advance and make a good income that can support a family, get a pension etc. Now, the better you are, the more you're taken advantage of, you don't even get raises that keep up with inflation, jobs are cut and more duties are loaded onto you for the same pay. All in the pursuit of short term profits.

The only way to avoid that is to "job hop." You can only even get close to getting paid what you're worth by having someone else pay you that amount. Without even entering into any type of socialist analysis, companies take paying people way under market or what they produce a win and won't give it up until forced.

So Gen Z is just acting rationally under Capitalism. They're done with lies about employers being "family" or the idea that they should be happy to have any job at all, when that job is making them miserable. Good.
