KH1 and KH2 are both among my top ~20 all-time and I absolutely despise pretty much everything about the entire rest of the series with one or two mild exceptions. So that's a complicated question.

I would say I'm a fan of Disney, though.

The franchise as a whole is incredibly flawed, but still super fun.

KH seems like something that you had to Be There to get the most out of. Played KH2 Final Mix as a newcomer and was underwhelmed. The game world is insanely empty; (and if you know me, that's not a good thing in this case) just running around from one cardboard setpiece to another until the next floaty guy in leather broods your ear off. Writing is one thing, but the pacing is another. The dead air between dialogue is like a punchline. Has someone made a compilation of all the times a character stops to thank Sora, Donald, and Goofy--exclusively in that order? Finally, music is a huge factor in how much a game is able to immerse me despite whatever shortcomings--only figures that KH music doesn't appeal to me at all. I like Sanctuary and Hollow Bastion, though.

However, I did genuinely enjoy Birth by Sleep! Wouldn't know if that's a controversial line or not, but I guess I ultimately preferred its gameplay and writing. Music too, which came as a shock.

I think I like KH more in theory than in execution. If it read like the cartoon pilot, which wears its Disney half on its sleeve with strong, sincere character moments, (Goofy being a father figure to Sora stands out--that hasn't really happened in the games to my knowledge) I'd probably be a huge fan. Some parts of this ramble got away from me, but I do stand by it. Kingdom Hearts: a pretty cool idea maybe probably I think

I will say the hype for KH2 was exponentially huger than anything else I've ever experienced. It was probably an online-community awakening for a lot of people. I know it's why I got addicted to gfaqs.

i wouldnt really describe myself as a fan of Disney in an active sense, but I have nostalgia and appreciation for the classic stuff.

KH3 started getting into territory that is totally beyond my experience like Tangled and Big Hero 6. Even the Lilo and Stitch stuff was too recent for my taste.

KH1 was the most disappointing gaming experience ever for me. But I do like Disney!

I'm sure it makes sense, but I can't comprehend WTF is going on.

I enjoy them. Not sure if I'd call myself fan of the series, but they're good.

it's an anime that continues to build on itself forever with no stopping point in mind

instead of actually having a story it just keeps adding more and more nonsense to it to keep the narrative going

Basically this. I also enjoyed Birth by Sleep and RE: Chain of Memories. Then KH3 was such a massive disappointment that it turned me off from anything the series will do going forward.

Love the series. I'm more of a fan of other properties Disney owns than Disney itself, at least for stuff made after the year 2000.
