literally the most stubborn hard headed fanbase and I say this as a longtime Nintendo fan.
You can criticize Xbox and Sony super easily as a fan of them I do it all the time and others in the space usually agree.

Nintendo fans... well they will literally argue to the death and gaslight you for being the wrong one in even the most miniscule argument. Like oh "Nintendo is lazy they have the ugliest OS and menu UI this generation and they never did this before" = 50 page argument on how I'm wrong.

Same thing for criticizing the latest Zelda, Mario, Metroid etc.
Its always "nope don't see anything wrong with it thats just you"

not here, lol. i was immediately blasted as a "sony pony" despite xbox being my main platform, stalked, insulted, and they even tried to get to me off-site

Really? I remember back with the ps3 and ps4 launches everyone would be arguing on lack of games and people agreed with me and stuff. Or saying the last of us is overrated would get 50/50 saying it sucks or its the best ever.

Because they don't have voice chat.

maybe playstation fans are more open to criticism of their own platform. dudes on the xbox board were straight up deranged. like, pick through your post history (back before they made it private), get on alts to quote and agree with themselves, demand photographic proof with a sign with your gamertag on it, straight up unhinged

While we can agree with Man-Ray here, some Nintendo fans are okay with Patrick in this video.

I've never been to the Playstation or Xbox boards but by all accounts they're pretty bad.

I've had first hand experience dealing with how rabbid Nintendo fans are though.

Does it matter who you're arguing with, or about what? Both sides will usually end up annoyed regardless. Not a lot of people can debate without losing their cool.

That's what you're pissed off about?
The UI doesn't matter, so long as it's functional. You're only seeing it long enough to pick a game and start playing that game, unless you need to dick around with wifi settings or something - then it gets a little arcane.

Thats an example lmao its any small nitpicky thing.

On Wii U I remember arguing how slow the OS was and everyone told me I was crazy and to shut up and now everyone looks back and agrees it was terrible and Nintendo had to actually fix and patch it.

I once got into an argument with a horde of Nintendo fans over whether Mario Party is a well-designed game (it isn't) and after the first few back and forth volleys, they just started the ad hominem attacks because they knew they had lost.

They've been around long to somewhat unintentionally create their own cult following. Being to games what apple is for phones is how I best describe them.

And possessing their own console with brand monopoly only helped. And if any 3rd party publisher with potential like Monolith spawns they're just swoop in and buy them for cheap.

Honestly, the criticisms I've seen in this topic so far amount to really harsh "THIS FUCKING SUCKS" opinions, and without seeing the other sides argument these opinions sound like like they're being voiced in the exact same manner you're complaining about.

Naturally they lurk in the comments to try to rib anyone who agrees with the thesis of the video. Also problem there is you are arguing the UI sucks but not bringing anything to back up your point so when that point is criticized then the critics gets clapped back. Its never ending because someones opinion on something was questioned.

The Pokmon boards can get bad because of fanboys. Baha here is one of them. I genuinely thought hed stop one of these days and let things go.

Eh, not really. I deal with many types of people in real life and online. It's normally fanboys of any kind both in real life and online that tend to be way more difficult having a discussion in good faith. I just do my best to avoid talking to them unless I can sense they are trying to discuss in good faith.

I mean fanboys are people too? So it still stands and really just online alone discussing things in general can go in many ways fanboys or not because of how people act.

And I blame part of that from the anonymity aspect of online discussions and the fact that in most places behaviors can get twisted anyhow and a lot of people will see things as critically attacking themselves. Because plenty of times a lot of discussion will devolve into that.

Id argue trolling is a far bigger issue then fanboys can be just in its very nature.
