This is an absolute tragedy. The best, most underrated potato chips company is leaving us.

I'm devastated.

I want cuttlefish to be added to Splatoon 3. I mean it makes sense, so it's gonna happen... right?

It's an Ohio chip company that made delicious potato chips.

They make some really good potato chips. They're based in Dayton OH.

With fam sized bag of chips now going for $4.99 per bag, a lot of these companies will soon go under when sales slump.

I have never seen these potato chips in any store, it must be an Ohio thing. Even when in other stores in other states I haven't run into this brand.

According to Wikipedia, "Mikesell's products are available in retail markets in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois." Which might explain why "never heard of them" is going to be the most common response in this thread.

Sort of like if I mentioned Utz or Charles Chips - I'm not sure too many people outside of the Northeast will have heard of either.

That was one of the first really interesting things the Internet opened my eyes to back in the day. Most people all sort of grow up assuming their personal store experiences and brands are more or less universal, especially in the US - but when you go online you start to realize just how regional certain stores and brands actually are.

I always found the best example of this sort of thing was trying to explain to someone in California that White Castle is actually real, and not just a made-up fast food chain for a movie. Or people on the East Coast not realizing that the Circle K in Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure was a real convenience store and not just made up for the movie.

Speaking of convenience stores, while 7-11 feels a bit more well-known (and appears in Cannonball Run), other Northeast-centric places like Wawa, Cumberland Farms, and Krausers that are fairly common locally don't really exist outside of the local region (and I know Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter used to be confused whenever their member from NJ used to talk about it in Texas - and in the same vein, RT brings up H-E-B fairly often, but it's a grocery store that doesn't really exist outside of Texas itself).

As another example, I've always assumed my local grocery store chain existed pretty much everywhere (it certainly seemed to be everywhere I went in my home state as a kid), but as an adult I eventually found out that they only really exist in 6 local states (pretty much in a circle around NJ).

And then there's even weirder things - like this:
