Pretty much. My current car is a 2014 model year. I put so little mileage on it since I work from home all the time.

My last car was literally the first car I got rid of while it was still drivable. Usually I drive them until they break down on the side of the road and have to be towed to a junk yard.

Yeah, I have no sense of pride in my vehicle. If it works and doesn't need repairs every other month it's good enough for me.

I'm still driving my '08 Kia minivan and I had my '08 sedan until a year or so ago when my parents downsized a car and gave it to us. It's a shiny new '12 Buick, albeit with only 40,000 miles on it because my mom drove it like a grandma (which of course she is). I will keep them until my kids need cars or they fall apart. Nothing cooler than driving a Buick to school.

The Kia might have more life than expected left given that I now work from home and use it mostly to haul stuff around...we shall see. A new minivan would cost a small fortune so I'm well motivated to keep it going.

My truck is a 2014 with 160000 km on it. I'm hoping to keep it for another 7 years minimum. Vehicles are way too expensive to replace more than once per 15 years.

I got a 2016 Corolla with only 33k miles on it. At this rate, I think my car will outlive me.

This. Recently said goodbye to a car of 12 years for mounting car issues, plus being well overdue for transmission and turbo failures.

This, more or less.

Most of my old cars I got rid off either after they were totaled in an accident or simply broken down to the point where I no longer had faith in them to keep running dependably.

I actually have a 14-year old car at the moment that is suffering from BCM/wire harness issues that would probably cause thousands to fix, which makes it unreliable to the point where I kind of don't feel like dealing with it anymore. So I'm probably going to get a new car soon.

I also have a 20-year old truck that I'll probably keep until it just doesn't start anymore, though I've kind of wanted to get a smaller truck for years now. I just don't feel like going through the hassle of trading it in (for minimal return) to get a new truck while it's still running, though.

My two cars are 20 and 12 years old. And I didnt pay anything for the 12 year old car.

Ive had my car since late 05 and I have no desire to get rid of it unless it becomes literally un-drivable.

Of course, knowing my luck, thatll end up happening soon while car prices are insane

Can confirm, my old 1987 Toyota Corolla ran like a dream until my sister binned it after aquaplaning about 10 years ago.

Had a 2000 Volkswagen Bora until it started running super rich. Sold it to a learner driver in 2017 and bought a 2006 Subaru Forester XT with under 90,000km on the clock. Just waiting for this to blow a headgasket before I look at something like an i30n or GR Corolla.

I don't buy more expensive than $9k, I don't replace until it stops working

I'd rather dump money into hobbies and technology than my ride to work
