I am not looking forward to the shitshow that will inevitably happen. It will be even worse than it was with the game.

Next level trolling: Have a series that routinely deviates from the games, then where the games screwed up they follow it to the letter.

I can see them doing it later in the series but i cant see them not doing it because its literally Abby's entire reason for existing in the games

The TV audience who hasn't played the games but likes the show will accept it

The people who played the games who freaked out over it will freak out over it, but a sizable chunk of these people never stopped freaking out over it anyway so no change there.

G*mers are uniquely terrible at handling storytelling in a way that other audiences aren't, so it'll be no big deal probably.

killing him off right away will mean a lot more Joel flashbacks for the tv show. a lot, like a whole lot. I dont see the girl carrying the show for many seasons.

I think if they settle & plan for 3 seasons then they can end it on a high note.

Yeah it'd be like adapting Superman and not having Krypton explode, or adapting Spider-Man and not having Uncle Ben die.

Their story doesn't really work without that particular event.

You're making a biiiig assumption with this one. Most of the people who freaked out over it when it happened in the game were also at one point people who had liked the previous game.

The same people that hate TLOU2 are the same people that freaked out when Ellie wasn't straight.

Look, the point is that even if it's just a minority who freak out (and it will be, don't get me wrong), that minority is going to be incredibly loud.

Maybe it's just my utter contempt for gamers, but yeah I think the folks who watch TLoU because it's the big "watercooler" show are used to big twists and changes like that.
