I binged the entire Wheel of Time series about 5 or so years ago in a month and a half; so a big gap between the two and I never noticed anything. I'm curious to hear. The big conceit of a magic school everyone goes to where everyone is subdivided into different sections based on their personalities was what I initially noticed. A big evil bad guy wizard who everyone is afraid to say the name of that lost his body and is sealed away only able to interact with the outside in limited fashion was a close second, not to mention his gang of evil wizards who are actively trying to resurrect him There are other little things here and there that might be coincidences and I'm not saying Rowling was actually a secret giant fan who has read them all or anything, or even that she's wholesale ripping off things. Regular state schools (not public schools which in England describes the most privatest of schools, figure that one out) don't really do that kind of thing.
