Clarify, please. I haven't read the HP books since the very early 2000s.
I binged the entire Wheel of Time series about 5 or so years ago in a month and a half; so a big gap between the two and I never noticed anything. I'm curious to hear.

The big conceit of a magic school everyone goes to where everyone is subdivided into different sections based on their personalities was what I initially noticed. A big evil bad guy wizard who everyone is afraid to say the name of that lost his body and is sealed away only able to interact with the outside in limited fashion was a close second, not to mention his gang of evil wizards who are actively trying to resurrect him

There are other little things here and there that might be coincidences and I'm not saying Rowling was actually a secret giant fan who has read them all or anything, or even that she's wholesale ripping off things. But the similiarities between the first few HP books and the Tar Valon sections of the first few WoT books are definitely there and I don't think they're totally coincidental.

Oh and did you know they tried twice to make a USA version of Red Dwarf. One pilot had Terry "Jadzia Dax" Farrell as Cat and they made a new suit for Kryten which Robert Llewellyn was allowed to keep.

She did, with the absurd secrecy and "photographs don't work" of it all.

You do know School houses are an actual thing in Britain, right?
I don't know the specifics, but that's just normal British school life, not a WoT ripoff

To be clear, that's the case for boarding schools and the like. Regular state schools (not public schools which in England describes the most privatest of schools, figure that one out) don't really do that kind of thing. At least not up here in the North.

Could JK have been inspired by some old witchcraft book?

Loose Example from 1986 spellbook describing a lucky incest.

I know this is goodluck incest but probably at least one older book has an actual luck potion described. A lot of these types of books won't be found online tho because of them being niche so no one has uploaded them digitally.

That doesn't sound so lucky to me.

I didn't know that. I only knew of the US version that had Craig Bierko as Lister

Actually, now that does sound somewhat familiar. I do recall a version that had a female Cat.
