I was reading about this recently, Luka is in Canada prison, apparently married a guy, spends most of his time outside and has movie nights. He has his own TV and access to video games. Wtf is Canada doing giving killers such good conditions in high security prison? Maybe the US is just more cruel in that regard.

See this is good to know, I thought a life sentence is Canada was 25 years, figured he was going to be out by then.

I really didn't care for that docu-series. The dude who made it and some of those self-appointed sleuthers rubbed me the wrong way.

It felt meme-y about the cat killings and barely touched on Jun Lin. Like he was an afterthought. At certain points, it felt like some of them felt the cats' lives were more important than his. And then, they kinda are like "Oh yes and of course that poor man he murdered" which felt shoehorned in.

Also fuck Luka Magnotta.

It sounds like most of the time, these "sleuths" cause more harm than good. I remember them being a primary focus of the documentary, but it seemed like every time it got to the point where they may have found something, it turned out that their efforts really didn't do much even though they were treated like they did.

It goes without saying that these documentaries and Netflix shows glorify serial killers. Why is this one worse than, say, the recent Dahmer one?

I havent seen it in years, but werent the online sleuths pretty much irrelevant? Like, in the end, Luka was caught by normal people? I seem to remember thinking that the online detectives just liked patting themselves on the back a lot for not really doing anything, ultimately.

From what I understood of the doc, the point was that the sick fuck could have been busted before he went on to kill a human being if the cops listened to the Internet nerds when they told them about the kitten killings. The doc was to show how the Internet nerds being ignored resulted in someone actually being killed.
