If China invades Taiwan in 2025, they will engage in a direct war with America. Taiwan has stated, the semi-conductor facilities won't be able to produce because China won't have the ability to make semi-conductors on Taiwan's factories. Once China invades Taiwan, there will be a global recession. Taiwan is responsible of 65% of the world's supply of semi-conductors, and once China invades Taiwan, the world will lose access in major manufacturing in semi-conductors. Smart phones, Computers, Cars, Airplanes even the Playstation 6 could face an indefinite delay.

Ya, I hope he's wrong.

I can't imagine any president being willing to go to war to defend Taiwan knowing the consequences of that action at the bailout box, the opposition will hammer them for it and the public at large really hates getting involved in other countries business for a lot of reasons, the main one being everyone remembers how 20 years of the war on terrorism produced absolutely nothing but an erosion of privacy and a smash and grab for the wealthy.

Isnt the US trying to get Taiwan-style partnerships with Latin America, especially Mexico, to get their lithium? And at the same time, isnt the US pushing to produce more chips domestically?

It would be almost impossible. We would see it coming from a mile away. It would take MONTHS for China to build up enough transport ships and troops on the coast, which would be plenty of time for Taiwan and the US to prepare. Russia couldn't take Kiev and they were attacking on three sides and mostly took Ukraine by surprise. Oh, and it was a LAND route.

If China doesn't try an amphibious assault, and instead just lobs missiles at Taiwan, I fully expect Taiwan to retaliate by hitting major points of infrastructure in China, including the 3 Gorges Dam. It would be a disaster for China either way.
