I always associated ginger ale as something you drank when you had an upset stomach, therefore it was more medicinal. At least that is the only time I drank it.

Lemon Lime soda is just kind of like the basic bitch of sodas.

Ive never been a big fan of most lemon lime sodas, but I love good ginger ales/beers. Fentimans, Cock & Bull (particularly the cherry one), and Reeds (especially the Strongest one) are my favorites.

Sad story is, while ginger is actually amazing at helping your stomach the most common ginger ales you can get at the store don't actually have ginger in it. I think people still associate it with helping stomachs from when it used to be made with ginger.

I always associated ginger ale with being an old fuck just waiting to die. I don't know that I ever knew a single person under 70 who actually liked it in any way.

About the only acceptable context is if you're drinking Canada Dry as a mixer for alcohol. And even then there are way better mixed drinks you could be drinking.

https://tasteebrew.com/what-is-the-best-alcohol-to-mix-with-ginger-ale

When it comes to medicinal use, I always used Coke syrup instead as a kid. As an adult, I just drink Coke with the carbonation stirred out. Both always worked really well for helping to alleviate nausea. And it didn't taste like shit the way ginger ale did (does).

I thought the fizziness helped, didn't realize it was the ginger. When I had an upset stomach or whatever I was told to drink ginger ale, sprite, etc. because it was the carbonation that helped

I don't know about that, I know like coke was made as a medicine originally. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory so just putting some on my meals keeps my acid-reflux under control.
