I was at the library and there was what looked to be a picture book with a cute raccoon on the front for only $2. I opened it up and there were a couple kids playing with the raccoon. I got it for my nephews who are going through a rough time as their father is a drunk, their mother is an addict and they are in a semi messy divorce. After getting home I look closer at the book. It was not a picture book, it was a graphic novel It begins with a father crying about not seeing his kids enough. It continues with the father being a drunk and the mother trying to hide things unsuccessfully from the kids. It has the parents get back together after one of the kids gets hurt enough to go to the hospital. I judge books by their cover, and have done so successfully my whole life.
