Well I missed out on Shenhe. Lost the 50/50 to Jean (she's new) and I pulled some more chasing Sucrose. On the way there I got 2 Mikas and SIX Dionas, I quickly began to hate her rofl.

I'm close to guaranteed so Baizhu shouldn't take long next patch. I hope Kaveh doesn't play hard to get.

But Diona's great (for a 4*)! Since I still don't have Jean or Kokomi, I rely on Diona when I need a healer.

I really butchered the names in that post lol. Fixed them.

But yeah I have heard Diona is good, and I'll build her. I was just mainly set on Sucrose and she was NOT showing up, so seeing all the Diona pulls was a tad annoying.

I've had c6 Diona for over a year now and benched her the second I pulled Layla. ngl, Diona's a better unit but she's also a cat kid, so...

I like her design, but the little I've seen her in events in stuff, it seems like she plays REALLY hard into the anti-alcohol gimmick and it got old.

Thinking of going ahead and getting my Shenhe, though. It's her first rerun and it took over a year, who's to say when I can gun for her again.

I'd like her about a million times more if she used the "teenager" model. But the "wine industry slayer" shtick did get old reallllllllllly quickly.

Speaking of, it amuses me that every alcohol in the game seems to be referred to as "wine", even when the concoction is clearly anything but. Is that just a poor translation thing?

I've noticed that too haha. It feels like it would be intentional more than anything but the question is still "why tho?" I've wondered the same with the term "genshin." In English they're called allogenes instead, so I guess to a lot of English people the title of the game is just weird.

lol to be quite honest I never gave the game title a second thought. But maybe that's because I'm used to watching anime with titles that I presume make perfect sense in their native language but are virtual gibberish in English. ;)

Ended up with Ayaka, Shenhe, c5 Mika, c2 Sucrose and c1 Diona

Took about ~100 rolls total

Rolling on Shenhe wasn't planned, but figured I do want her, but if I lose the 50/50 I won't mind because I'll just hold the guarantee for Kazuha or Kokomi whenever they show up next

Okay, I'm still not feeling the Strongbox. Over the last two days, I've dumped 78 five-star artifacts in and received one Hydro cup that was a slight upgrade over the one I had equipped on Xingqiu, and one Dendro cup that I'm not sure is even any good... it has atk%, cr and cd but no em... and my only dendro units are Traveler and Collei lol. Otherwise, I now have 24 five-star fodder pieces instead of 76.

Is this really worth it?

Probably depends on your account but I'm loaded up on other resources and 5* artifacts don't give much more exp anyway so there's hardly any reason not to strongbox them

Yeah I don't bother strongboxing anymore. Better off using the fodder gambling on leveling up some maybe good pieces instead of converting them to pieces that have 99% chance of being even worse than fodder.

It is far more resin efficient to strongbox over using them for EXP.

this game really needs to let you re-roll your artifact upgrades

Personally, I'm throwing trash artifacts into the strongbox before I use them for EXP. That's what artifact routes are for.

3* artifact farming isn't exactly free like that reddit post says since it's spending time doing boring shit. It's more advice for someone brand new to artifact farming. Once the bar for a good piece gets high enough, you're focusing more on RNG from leveling artifacts up than the RNG from generating the artifact.

In short, you can argue that it's more resin efficient if you wish, but I would've rather rolled the dice in a domain and had 78 pieces of fodder to level it up immediately because it's more fun to do so.

You do you, not saying otherwise - it's your fun and don't wish to suggest otherwise. It just is undeniably more efficient a use of resin since you called that into doubt.

The problem with this analysis is that it's classifying everything as either "good" or "fodder," but there are also pieces that are mediocre but could be good if you get lucky with the substat rolls. You should be taking your fodder pieces and upgrading the mediocre ones until you have a decent set. Also it's better to go back and forth between characters so you don't get stuck on one domain forever. I think people who haven't beaten Spiral Abyss but use the strongbox are either focusing too much on one set with a low drop rate (like trying for an EM set) or being too picky with their artifacts. Or a little of both.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not telling people how they should play the game. If you want to go one character at a time, give that character perfect artifacts (or at least as close as you can get without going crazy), and then move on to the next, that's perfectly fine if you enjoy it. But you don't need to have perfect artifacts for anything, and it's more efficient to go from character to character until everyone's artifacts are good enough for whatever you're using them in.

If you've beaten Spiral Abyss and are just trying to get your favorite characters maxed out, then yes, the strongbox is better. And if you want to get perfect artifacts for every character and don't mind it taking longer, that's fine too. Do whatever you enjoy.

But this reddit post seems to be saying that using the strongbox is more efficient even if you're working towards your first Abyss clear. That's just false.

Ugh, it's so hard resisting the urge to C0 --> C2 my Ayaka, that constellation is so amazing yet C1 is garbage.
I already decided I'll get Nahida's C1 --> C2 upgrade and otherwise there will no longer be anything to roll for until Fontaine, but I suppose I should save up just in case we get a super cute 5* girl in 4.0 or 4.1 (in particular Lynette, Soutine, Medic loli, pink monocle, devil braids).

I have 5+ soft pity hits ready but that can go away in an instant if I keep failing the 50% on 80 rolls on Ayaka and the next 5*

Actually I already wrecked Wenut using my Nilou 1:3 team.
I'm not doing it for primos, I can consistently hit 36* just fine. I just like Ayaka a lot and her C2 is a huge improvement for the burst.

Personally, I always prioritize new characters over cons. And you don't need Ayaka to be any more powerful than she already is, so...

Yeah I really don't need it but I want it. Extra damage on large enemies, wider burst reach on group encounters (to kill fodder that didn't get venti'd). It's just great QoL for her burst.

I actually have all characters I like and rest of Sumeru will be 4*s I think.

I finally got Anthony out of the fountain and turned Anna into an adventurer. I'm a real Genshin player now.

Any character that sends crystal cores in the mail is good in my book.

Same! And her balloon escorts are really short. 10/10 character imo

Interesting. I never got to the point where you teach her how to use a glider, apparently. Maybe Ill have to reset to Mondstadt again, since all Im doing right now is playing whack-a-mole and bouncy house in Sumeru.
