the only pixel variant i have and actually use over the base card is lizard.

but even then if i had any other variant of lizard i'd switch in an instant

I feel like they should fix map setups so that its impossible to get garbage like Sanctum, Space Throne and Plunder Castle where you can barely even play the game

I put Pixel Punisher as my default just to horrify people whenever it shows up

of course Punisher doesnt actually get played ever so it's a moot point but when he gets buffed...!

There's so many great pixel artists who can pump out a bunch of sprites fast though. This must just be poor direction or poor artist, or a bit of both. All of them are done by the same artist too.

I don't think they anticipated the variants would be so profitable either. These seem like one of the earliest variants made.

Originally they said that pixel variants were only available through random boxes and not going to be in the shop. Then they changed their mind I guess.

They should have a booster shop or something where pixel cards cost 50-100 boosters. Then we could just ignore them.

Also I know most of you weren't around in the beta but foolmo's post about variants being profitable reminds me of the original monetization for this game.

Originally they had this awful gacha system where 100 gold opened a lootbox that had 1/40 odds to be the hot new card (it was Jane Foster in the beta) or 1/40 odds to be a special variant (Destroyer variant). The rest of the box odds were avatars, credits, boosters, and that junk.

You were guaranteed to get the card and the variant after opening a certain number of boxes but the math came out to like $400 to be guaranteed to get both. And they were planning on doing 1 or 2 a month of those gacha drops.

There was such an outcry they dropped it completely and switched to these variant bundles instead.

So yeah the game was almost DOA in the beta with that monetization.

Okay I officially just had the worst game ever.

It was the final turn and the only lane left was Altar of Death. I was winning 1 lane and opponent was winning 1 lane and Altar of Death. He started spamming emotes (he was spamming all game) because he figured he'd won.

I played Storm and Jubilee into Altar which pulled Odin so I was winning that lane now. I started spamming emotes back at him because he was an annoying boner all game.

Then Jubilee 2nd trigger from Odin pulls Arnim Zola who kills my Odin and I lose that lane and lose the game. It was 8 cubes too

Not really sure what they were going for here. Doc is just too fun to pass up I guess.

Wave and Doctor Octopus in the same deck is usually a sign of Galactus, but if you have one you usually don't play the other. Guess they just didn't draw the man himself

That's what I was anticipating so I spread out all my cards, but I didn't consider that he just didn't draw him

I've been playing this game for months and have never seen a strengthened Thanos hit the board. Has anyone?

Ive seen it in videos, and there was a match where my opponent would have had it but I Enchantressd the Power Stone on turn 6 when they played Thanos

I kind of feel like the non-Thanos Lockjaw On Reveal deck does the concept of Thanos better. I regularly get Thor to +12 strength while the 0-cost Mjolnir is replaced with things like Infinaut.

i have, but only while the lockjaw location was featured, which makes it way easier to play out all the stones.

I've seen it a few times with my own Thanos deck and it's cool because he shows at 18 power in your hand if the power stone is on the board and it's activated.

But even when he's been activated in my hand playing other cards on turn 6 like Aero or Magneto have been a better play.

Ive only ever seen Thanos from Agent 13 and Im fairly sure she doesnt also pull the Infinity Stones into your deck

This deck is an Electro deck and I never even drew Electro.

That was mt Red Skull deck and didn't draw him either lol

I forgot Shang and Areo were both leeched

I have no early game with this deck and I've found that to be its biggest weakness so far.

Yeah Sunspot can basically carry the early game if you draw all of your expensive cards and you have to skip a few turns.

Ggs, I have been seriously considering putting Sunspit into my deck for that reason.

Yeah even Sunspot into an Ebony Maw lane is okay because it's still a threatening lane.

Yeah I got lucky I played the Space stone that turn so I could move Sunspot over there. Those stones really come in handy sometimes, even when I don't draw Lockjaw or Quinjet.

Yea I've seen them do some damage in game before. Are they all 1 cost?

Yeah they're all 1 cost and 0 cost with Quinjet because they didn't start in your deck.

So on turn 4 or 5 I could play 3 stones for 0 mana into Lockjaw while also discounting my She-Hulk for the next turn and buffing Sunspot.

It's a little silly, yeah.

Oh wait, people run Doc Ock in Galactus decks? Is he for when you dont draw ramp and are gonna play Galactus on 6?

It's mostly to try to get all of your good cards out of your hand on turn 4 (with Electro ramp) and get more triggers for Death/Knull.

So they can Galactus on turn 5 and now their Death is probably cheap/free and their Knull will have like 40 power.

Ohh, I see. Something to think about whenever I get Death and Electro

I'm not saying Galactus players are bad people necessarily, but...
