Yeah this. Interestingly, they're already drawing early parallells to what might happen later in the show.

Binged episodes 2-5 today

God damn this show really knows how to bring a man to tears. I haven't played the games so guessing a lot of this is predictable but still fun in a "how will they adapt *insert scene from the game here* in the show" way.

Show is still going great. Hope it keeps up.

That being said, I don't think there's any real plot beats or moments that aren't done better in the game honestly. I'm good with the changes and fleshing out stuff like Henry and like it being different. But for as good as the ending was, it wasn't as impactful as the cut to black and "FALL" moment in the game.

You said it very well. The biggest benefit for me was the time frame. I didn't buy it so much in the last episode when it seemed (at least to me) like they'd overthrown FEDRA months ago at least. But ten days? Yeah, that's more sensible.

It's interesting to see how Neil tackles this because after tLoU2, to me, it really seemed he didn't care for how the community latched on to Joel. Not in a bad way. But because, when the game came out, people almost universally agreed with Joel's decision.

And for the record, I do as well. But I can see what he wanted to say. And even even brings it up in the episode. He draws a parallel with Henry selling out an innocent man to save his brother. It's a choice that I think most people would make. But is it the right decision? That's grey.

Fucking phenomenal episode. The time between Ellie and Sam was the highlight. And him showing her and her staying with him. It's hard to describe how a scene that I KNEW would happen, fucked me up in a different kind of way. It was always going to be a tragedy. Just didn't expect this one.

So this is fun. I watched the last episode with my wife and she thought when Sam attacks Ellie at the end, that he was just joking around and Ellie's blood actually cured him and Henry killed him for no reason.

^I had that thought for a second but then it became obvious it wasnt what was happening lol

In fairness, pretending to be an infected and leaping at someone the day after THAT happened is also a fair reason to be shot lol.

Honestly, my first thought at the end of the episode was "They made him deaf specifically to explain why he didn't move or attack Ellie during the night."

Oh, I don't know if they intended that, but I do very much like that idea. Deaf clickers would just be fucked, I guess.

So Im thinking of running to Gamestop tomorrow to pick up the game.

I have a PS5. Is the remake worth it over the PS4 remaster? Obviously Im assuming its a big improvement but its $65 used vs $18 used

Remaster still looks good and I believe there's little to no gameplay improvements beyond accessibility features. Save the money, get the PS4 version. I'm only going to be buying the remake because it's the only version on PC.

Don't listen to Darth (sorry Darth) if cost isn't an issue get the remake. It is the definitive version and especially if the intent is to try Part 2 at some point it segues into it much better.

I havent actually been able to experience the PS5s power yet. Literally got it like a week or two ago and have just been installing stuff but been too busy to play anything.

So I think Ill go with the remake since its built from the ground up for PS5.

I'm floored how well they adapted the sniper scene and everything that came after it.

Also that infected girl must not have been a clicker yet, she must have saw ellie go in the car. No way you hear that with so much chaos

Honestly the resistance Deserved what they got. They turned just as bad as Fedra. Worse actually because they were STUPID evil. Fedra was evil but effective at keeping the infected at bay and didn't kill valuble doctors. I mean for god sakes no one said a peep when Kathy fully intended on murdering a couple of kids. She was Incompetent, hateful and extremely bitchy. Her way or the highway and everything about her attitude was like a Karen but as a facist. I really couldn't bring myself to feel a thing for those fools and was ready to cheer when Darth Karen got caught by the clicker.

lol so its not just me? Every episode so far either what happened was too sad or the zombies were too scary for her yet she insists on watching right before bed still.

Saw a post that made this episode even more depressing

Apparently the real cordyceps fungus bypasses the brain and keeps ants alive while it feeds on them, so by that logic when people are in the early stages of being infected monsters they would be fully aware of whats going on and just unable to control their bodies.

Sam sat facing the window with the curtains open because, being deaf, his eyesight was his primary way of experiencing the world and he wanted to see one last sunrise before dying. Only he didnt die but his body gets taken over and he witnesses himself attack his new friend and get shot in the face by his brother.

In what ways does the remake segue into Part 2 better? Is it because of the updated gameplay or is it the visuals or something else?

I was about to start up the PS4 remastered version for a replay because of the show, then replay part 2, then get the Part 1 remake after just to see what they changed; but I might just skip the replay of the old PS4 version of the first game and just get the remake now instead if it really flows into Part 2 that much better like you said it does.
