I grew up with 2 more so than 1, my siblings would repeatedly rewatch it on vhs and I basically memorized the movie. And this movie is pretty frigging goofy but it's still a fun kids movie.

The plot is a bit more nonsensical than the first, in that there's no narrative cohesion or clear themes like at least the first movie had

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the man who carried the movie with his amazing cameo and phenomenal line delivery in a children's movie:

We completely blinked and ignored this line until 20 years later when we finally said "holy shit"

I did cringe a little bit at them trying to include a bit about 13 year old Carmen being a pop star but it was the early 2000s and musical numbers at the end of movies was huge

Spy Kids 2 is the best one. Great mix of action and humor imo.

At least that was an after-credit scene. I'd rather they do that than halt the plot of the movie with a forced, unrelated setpiece *coughSonic2cough*
