Not a speed-runner
No skipping dialogue/cutscenes
No glitches

Only counts Kojima games (and Revegence for some reason)

So no Snakes Revenge or Acid or Portable Ops

I think he's played it all on Normal

Definately didn't have the EZ gun, the dude didn't even use the Cold War Camo on the vehicle section or Pick up The End's Tranq Sniper

I think people are underestimating it.

The sheer amount of cutscenes and samey gameplay will sneak up on you.

Taken from Howlongtobeat:

https://howlongtobeat.com/?q=metal%2520gear

Metal Gear: 4 hours
Metal Gear 2: 6 Hours
Metal Gear Solid: 12 hours (Watching the mission breifing is part of the challenge)
Metal Gear Solid 2: 13 hours
Metal Gear Solid 3: 16 hours
Metal Gear Solid 4: 18.5 houes
Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker: 28.25 hours
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: 5 Hours
Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes: 2 hours
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain: 48.5 hours

That's 153.25 hours on average.
There are 168 hours in a week.

Granted these are average playtimes and of course if it's a repeat playthrough of a game you already know for a challenge, then you're moving quickly. But factoring in sleep and gameplay repetition it's not gonna be that easy.

As I said MGS4 alone has 11 hours of cutscenes where no matter how fast you do the gameplay, that's still half the day gone.

So is it not possible to do multiple at a once? I have to do each one 1 at a time? I could always have my vita and be doing 2 while 1 is having cutscenes and vice versa. It also seems like you clear half of 3 before the challenge starts.

Okay fine TC, my curiosity is piqued. I'll give it a look. I've seen some of those guy's stuff, he did the Kowalski chasing you around New Vegas one.

Just because he's not a speedrunner doesn't mean he doesn't know what to do and how.
I haven't played in years but I looked in on some of those George Salonikh playthroughs Youtube recommends sometimes and I'm pretty sure MGS2 and 3 weren't that long.
I think he can do it.

You can't do multiple at once lol that defeats the fun of the challenge lol.
You also have to beat 3 from start to Finish. The set up with The End is done first on a seperate save file.

This guy played the games in order but I dunno if that's a rule or not. I can see the appeal in starting with Peace Walker or MGSV to get it out the way first but it kinda pops part of the fun.

Some of those times are heavily inflated. You can beat MGS1 in about 7-8 hours. Same with MGS2 and MGS3. You can finish The Phantom Pain in 20 hours if you wanted to.

I think you're underestimating it. Doing that in succession in one week. It is a challenge.

Saying "Well I can do that in 20 hours! and that in 8 hours! And that in 11 hours!" and then actually sitting there and doing it are different things.

Especially considering the only game he used a guide for was Metal Gear 1. I think practicing or looking up speed strats kinda defeats the heart of the challenge.

Dude even fought The End in MGS3.

Its only a challenge if you have a job. Otherwise, not really. The average person is awful at stealth games. Thats not really the best indicator. If someone knows how to play MGS, then they shouldnt be taking 12 hours on most of these games. Not at all. MGS1 can be done in 6 hours if youve played the game and know where to go. I say this because I just replayed MGS1 a few months ago and beat it in a single night while playing casually.

Also, Im not sure why you keep saying MGS4 has 11 hours of cutscenes. You can actually beat the entire game within 11 hours. The actually length for the number of cutscenes including codecs and talking during gameplay comes out to about 9 hours. It feels like youre kind of exaggerating how long these games actually are. As someone who has replayed the entire series recently, most of these games arent long at all aside from The Phantom Pain. You dont really feel the gameplay repetition much either jumping from one game to the next. The gameplay loop is good enough to where it doesnt suffer in that aspect.

If I could no life video games for an entire week then this wouldnt be very difficult especially if I was getting paid through YouTube or Twitch to stream this? Money is going to motivate you a lot.

This is such an utterly bad post

"Most people can't do it but it's not a challenge." Do you even know what challenge means?

It's also bullshit you claim you won't feel repetition or exhaustion from playing the same series non stop all week. You absolutely would and indeed he does.

Walls of text just to shit on someone for succeeding in a challenge and making a fun video.

"Well walking on the moon isn't really a challenge. I mean sure most people couldn't do it but money is a motivator, If I trained for years and was placed on a program by NASA I could do it."

Shut up.

There was a guy who did a no-death speedrun of Sekiro, Bloodborn, and the Dark Souls games back to back. It took him over two days to complete without a break. He's guaranteed to keep the record since no other speed runner is crazy enough to go through all that.

Underestimating the insanity of speedrunners is a bad bet.
They're crazy dude, like actual crazy. You should see the people who've been speedrunning N64 games for over 20 years. Or the people trying to inch each other out by a few microseconds on Mario 1.
Hell, I think one of the Baten Kaitos games has a week long speedrun associated with it.

Even for Souls games alone I know that Hob guy's done a bunch of games back to back no hit, there was that German guy who did like 5 or 6 games back to back no hit and Youtube occasionally tries to get me to watch Squilla Killa do insane no hit/lv1/no upgrade challenges.

This is probably it. I got it wrong because he kept his armor so low to max out his other stats that for most of the time one-hit was instant death.
