Because (thankfully) Rowling isnt selling the rights. Love her or hate her, if she sold rights to WB or especially Disney, there would be fifty new movies being made and the entire Potterverse would turn into Star Wars.

She'd make more money selling the rights than whatever pittance of a royalty (relatively speaking) she's receiving now.

It wouldn't sate the people protesting, and wouldn't quell the controversy. Nor should it.

Her name would still be tied to the work; it's foolish to think WB or anyone else would strip her authorial credit from any reprints of the books, and she still has top billing on all of the movies. Even if they did, there are so many copies of each already in circulation that it would barely matter. Plus she'll surely keep talking about it, praising/condemning any new work, and keeping her name linked to it any way she can.

Even ignoring all of that, the franchise would cost an asston to buy. Ergo, she would be making a ton of money in the name of giving us content that's free from her; money that can theoretically go to those same causes she already pledges to. which would still be counted as a net loss.

Nothing would be accomplished.

Trans rights in my area are thankfully not a problem. It's other states, as well as a severe lack of federal protections, along with people like her being allowed to support terrorist groups like Libs of Tiktok and Gays against Groomers.
