This seems like a pretty bad idea. There's no way it will be as good as the original trilogy so why even bother? (Money, I know)

I remember when people said this about The Last Of Us. They talked crapped about it before it even came out. Once it got released the critics went silent about it being a cash grab.

We're in the "every franchise is a universe" era. The idea that, why waste a perfectly crafted world just because there were only one/two major stories within that universe in book form?

Every franchise is in competition with one another to become the face of all franchises.

The obvious play here would be to adapt the Shadow of ___ games and turn them into a trilogy.

Shadow games shit way too hard on the lore to make a successful movie. They get away with it in the game cause the game play is so damn good

You cant beat the Jackson trilogy. Its literal perfection and has aged perfectly and will continue to.

Yeah, this is what every one has been doing nowadays. There's no reason to throw these things away when there's still potential.

There's no real reason to end anything conclusively anymore. You can always pick it back up later and add new stories.

As great as the Jackson movies are, you can argue it can be beat. Certainly it's possible to make a trilogy that is more true to the books. It's just very unlikely to ever happen.
