Might need someone with patience. Ideally, you should look for that and not get caught up in primal attraction. Otherwise you might shy away from potential blessings

I've lived 36 years with a shadow of judgment paranoia and overreaction hanging over me, it's obviously too late.

I've met 80 year old addicts with 5 years of sobriety.

That's not an accurate assessment of your place, it's at best a justification to avoid addressing it out of fear of failure.

yes, if you're picky, it's more difficult. if you're too lazy to look given the difficulty, that's on you.

I told my therapist about this concern the last time I was there but it was the first time I brought it up so I haven't really gone anywhere with it yet.

There's some of it that is less applicable but it ties into things like "those people are laughing ergo they are laughing at me" or remembering in detail an embarrassing memory and believing everyone else remembers it as vividly.
