What a letdown. I really liked the neighborhood and location. Over a week and the piece of shit property manager and rental agency couldnt even be bothered to give me the courtesy of letting me know that they had too many people looking and rented it out in a first-come-first-served basis.

It happens, but this honestly sucks because other properties are WAY too expensive. I really wanted to move into a nicer house. I always get stuck in dilapidated landlord flop houses with broken gutters, flies, and disgusting carpet. Now I dont even know if I can afford to live in this region anymore.

I think its unprofessional that they literally ghosted on me. I can afford it and Im a damn good choice to rent the house to.

Oof, I know that feeling. 9 years ago I found a really nice apartment with cheap rent for the area, but it was first come, first served and they gave it to someone else about an hour before I got there with the signed paperwork.

Thats rough. You can only be so upset because the first come first served rule prevents favoritism (in theory). Sometimes you jump the gun and envision yourself living there and the life you would have. Ehh, I found another decent place and hopefully the property manager (different company) bothers to respond.

* I acknowledge that the property I wanted had almost 700 people contacting the manager, but most of them were probably bots or people who didnt even live in the state. How hard would it have been to drop in the messages and tell me to keep looking? The other one has like 50 people looking at it. This is how fierce the housing competition is here. There is no consideration to making sure properties go on priority to people who already live here. They just take the money from out-of-staters.
Cash pays. You want that kind of treatment drop the money for it bro.

I found another place that I like and the property manager actually got back to me asap. In fact, it was the owner of the agency, so maybe theyre a smaller operation who can help tenants more easily. My current rental agency is responsible for about 500 properties with *maybe* three people handling maintenance requests and inspections, so they never fix anything. I sent a maintenance request for my gutters since it was a safety concern, but they never fixed them.

New property is much nicer, built twenty years after, and has snow removal and lawn care includes in rent.
