Well, it's misleading for one if people are spending every day on discord. I spent every day on ezchat and I'm still friends with those ppl

I have to assume the "stats" were about the number/frequency of young people hanging out in person is going down.

Yeah, I was hanging out with people in person every day in college... It's an entirely different life that is pretty hard to actually have if you're not in the same college as the people you're with. Or maybe as a NEET.

Even in HS it's hard to do that.

Yeah, I also think it's misleading. Because it's specifically a statistic of teens hanging out "almost every day"

That kind of thing isn't as necessary with technology

Even in HS it's hard to do that.

When I was in HS, granted it was amid-90's pre internet, I was hanging out with friends outside of HS on a near daily basis. Even junior and senior year when I had a job, my friends would come visit me and we'd "hang out" there (I worked at an amusement park in their arcade).

Things like that aren't happening as frequent now. I have a 17 and 14 year old, and, other than work and when she's at her BFs house, my daughter is home, usually facetiming someone. And other than when he's playing organized sports, my son is at home playing PS4 online with his friends.

They both are rarely interacting face to face with their friends outside of school.

It was about teens. Specifically 8th graders, 10th graders and 12th graders

The vibe of "almost every day" is way different than once a week though

Electronics is part of it, but there's less shit to do like the 80s and 90s. Teens don't bowl anymore, there's no roller rinks, whats left of Malls are old fashioned and not a "hang out" spot anymore, Arcades are basically dead.

going outside to hangout with ppl seems pointless now unless you are into some type of sport. can just interact w/ ppl through the internet or something. pretty sure my sis does all her social interactions through roblox/minecraft and group chats.

And people wonder why kids lack basic interaction skills now lol

Communicating online, even through zoom is simply not the same as in person.
