There was actually a lot that I couldn't piece together from the sequel alone. Like literally the whole sacrifice involved in the final summoning. So that was still a cool plot twist for me. When I went back to X-2 later, it gave some scenes a lot more impact. Also obviously I didn't recognize all the people and places I should have. Moving onto FFX, it was kind of a downer lol. You go from a world opening up and experiencing freedom for the first time to that same world crushed under the weight of a calamitous monster and a corrupt church/government and very much focused on fighting for their lives. Also the combat felt slow for a while, but of course it was still really fun. Honestly it wasn't a terrible experience playing 2 first. Iirc, any unique voiced line of dialogue added a certain % to your completion. Just siding with the other faction in chapter 2 in NG+ will give you a chunk of new lines in the main story and probably give you some more if you visit certain areas where your allegiance is relevant (Mushroom Rock, Bevelle, etc.). You still need to complete a ton of sidequests and probably look up the right sequences of events to get certain endings for the highroad chocobo mystery, but it's not impossible. Truth be told, it did take me multiple runs before I happened to reach 100%. Timing the ship's movements, healing all its statuses, and the agony of trying to grind while stuck on the ship; it was a bad time. I was always terrified during the following fights cuz I didn't wanna have to redo it.
