Even at 4,500 years old, the Great Pyramid of Giza is still revealing new secrets.
On Thursday, Egyptian officials announced the discovery of a hidden corridor above the pyramids entrance. Measuring 30 feet long, the passage could serve as a jumping-off point for additional research into the mysterious inner chambers.
According to a new study published in the journal Nature Communications, the pyramid has been undergoing noninvasive scans since 2015. Through an international partnership known as ScanPyramids, researchers from around the world have been using cosmic-ray imaging and infrared thermography to map out what lies behind the sand-beaten stones of the exterior.
These scans have revealed several voids, including the 30-foot passage, which lies just behind a chevron-shaped configuration of stones not far from where todays tourists enter the pyramid. A video released by ScanPyramids offers a glimpse into the mapping process and shows where this newly discovered corridor lies.
After learning of the void, researchers used an endoscope to collect images of the corridor on February 24.
The first pictures taken with the endoscope seem to show there is nothing, but we cannot see all the room precisely yet, Sbastien Procureur, lead author of the study and a physicist with the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, tells Live Sciences Owen Jarus.

Do we really want to wake it up??

The Egyptologists are so hyper sensitive in maintaining their narrative of History that they would destroy any artifacts that upset the accepted mainstream viewpoints.

They *still* insist the drill marks and saw marks in the quarry's were done by simple tools. They also insist the obvious water erosion in the Sphinx's pit couldn't be water because that would date the construction to like 10,000 years ago when Egypt was tropical.

So no, I don't think we will ever know what's inside those chambers.

The general consensus among Egyptologists is that the Sphinx was constructed somewhere between 2520 BC and 2494 BC. They also agree Egyptian civilization began circa 3100 BC. However, there are a handful of Egyptologists, geologists, and historians who suggest otherwise.
They believe the weathering on the Sphinx's enclosure walls is indicative of water erosion rather than the commonly accepted belief that it was caused by sand and wind. If the weathering were caused by water erosion, it is so extensive that it could only be attributed to thousands of years of rainfall. Funny thing is, where the Sphinx is located is as bone dry now as it was in 2500 BC when it was supposedly built. In fact, the area has only experienced an average annual rainfall of one inch since the Old Kingdom circa 2686-2134 BC. Egypt's last period of significant rainfall ended between the late 4th and early 3rd millennium BC. If the weathering was caused by water erosion, the Sphinx must have been built during the 6th or 5th millennium BC at the earliest.
If one accepts the water erosion hypothesis it must then be asked, how long was the Sphinx standing there before the heavy rains began? This is where academics diverge even further on the matter, and some believe it can be answered by astronomy. There is a wobble in the earth's rotation known as axial precession and it takes 26,000 years to complete a cycle. Because of this, the alignment of stars in the night sky is a cyclical process, so we are able to know exactly how the stars were aligned at any time over the last 30,000 years at any point on the earth. With this knowledge, we know that the layout and orientation of the Sphinx was a direct reflection of the constellation of Leo in 10,500 BC. Furthermore, it was at this time in 10,500 BC that the Giza pyramids were a direct reflection of the Orion constellation and the Nile River was a direct reflection of the Milky Way.
So if one accepts the water erosion hypothesis they must also accept that Egyptian civilization is much older than believed, at least several thousand years older and in the case of the Leo Constellation theory almost 10,000 years older.

I remember being a kid and watching a live unveiling of a tomb that no one had opened, it was a huge television event. They unsealed it and one of the Egyptian leaders went in first, came back out, said nope, you aren't going in there, you can't see it. The entire thing was cut off and the inside was never shown.

There is 100% validity to Egyptian leadership more interested in preserving their name and hiding information and artifacts that prove otherwise.

There's a difference between unsure chronology and pushing it back an additional 7.5k years.

I found a wiki article on the matter and apparently this water erosion theory is birthed by someone wanting to link it to the lost civilization of Atlantis, which apparently according to Platon fits with those dates.

Yeah, I don't like getting lumped in with Graham Hancock or Erich Von Daniken when I bring up my ideas on the Pyramids and Sphinx temple complex.

However, I did enjoy that Hancock docuseries on Netflix "Ancient Apocalypse". He tones down the batshit and tries to bring up some good points about the age of Civilization using the new Dryad Impact Hypothesis (which isn't a conspiracy theory, btw). IIRC, he never even talked about Egypt in the 6 or 7 episodes. Maybe that's for a season 2.

There was a French architect who came up with a very plausible solution to how the pyramids were built using AutoCAD. Two decades ago he predicted they would find a chamber similar to the current hidden chamber.

He believed the chamber was a ramping shaft that they used to pull the blocks up along inside the pyramid using a rope and pulley system. The pulley was a heavy duty beam inside the pyramid with multiple ropes threading it. When they got a block to the top, they would push it out from the pyramid shaft into place. They would keep extending the shaft as they built new levels.

When the pyramid was finished, they would finally seal part of the shaft. The rest of the ramping shaft became the Grand Gallery.

Similar thing happened with the Dead Sea scrolls.

They belonged to a Harvard biblical scholar who later turned out to be anti-semitic. He sat on them for fifty years and only released bits and pieces to the outside world as part of his studies. It was easy for him to be the foremost scholar on the Dead Scrolls since he was the only one who could see them.
