It felt like I was watching a videogame at some points. Especially when the camera stayed overhead for a while.

Thats not a bad thing and Im not aware of another movie that films an action scene entirely overhead.

Not from what I've heard. However, the director shot 2 different endings for the film. One where he dies, which is what he wanted, and the one where he lives, which is what the studio wanted to keep squeezing out the sequels.

This is how I feel. The deeper it gets, the dumber it gets. John is just an idiot unable to see two steps ahead of him and that leads him to so much trouble. One could say everything he's done is self inflicted.

That said, the action is top notch. Definitely best shooter flicks I've seen yet.

I mean, the ending was pretty ambiguous if he's really dead or not. Seems like they went with the best of both options.

seen it. Came out severely disappointed. Took itself too seriously plot wise, way too many nut shots and weird comedic pauses that just take you out of the seriousness of it all. The runtime felt unjustified, could have cut so much fat and still deliver the same message. Worst of all 4 for sure.

Just watched it. I dunno. I had fun and a lot of the sequences were really good, especially the overhead house scene and the stairs sequence. They made really good use of Paris' locations and feel.

But it felt needlessly long and repetitive. There's sooooo many shots ogf John Wick grabbing someone by the arm and shoulder throwing them over himself. Cut a bunch of those and reduce the run time by 20 minutes. I feel kind of weird saying it, but there's not enough story to justify the length of the action scenes into repetitiveness. It's essentially the same story as JW2, which I didn't really like, but that at least had the decency to only be two hours instead of three hours. The encounters also feel less interesting than they were in three. Donnie Yen was the highlight of the film. As we knew he would be.
