New money has become old money, which leaves a vacuum for new new money to fill.

Capitalism has reached the stage where it is its own worst enemy.

Instead of focusing on programs that enhance and increase the sustainability of everything, it's doubling down on quarterly profits, sacrificing future trillions for billions right now.

It's sad. It's pathetic. A great argument as to why short-sighted greed is toxic to all involved.

Capitalism is chugging along just fine for those who benefit from it.

The lives of the middle class and poor are in decline. Capitalism and the rich are still going up. They're getting more and more control and more and more richer every day.

What's unhinged about criticizing a system that appears to be killing the world, destabilizing politics and culture, and leaving people feeling hopeless?

People like Obama say that we should keep the system that funnels all resources and power to the top, and tell us that in exchange, those on the bottom "should" be helped out and inequality is a "concern." But we always get the inequality first and the help for those on the bottom never materializes. And those with the resources use them to push tax cuts, austerity, and the privatization or elimination of the benefits and safety nets we do have (destruction of unions, cuts to healthcare, welfare, education etc).

You're calling us silly, yet you believe it's more likely that the fundamental nature of humanity has suddenly worsened just as capitalism has taken control over every aspect of our lives rather than capitalism maybe not being great. That's pure ideology.

Unfortunately, no. Not even a little bit.

It is but of course those who mainly benefit from it will deny, deny, deny and gaslight and point the finger elsewhere.. Sometime in the future once the rich and corporations have fucked over enough people there will likely be a revolution, but at that point will those who fight against it be able to cause any lasting change? Law enforcement and the military will only be more powerful after all.

I'm saying the sky is falling, huh? My claims are devoid of factual information? Let's go through the claims I actually made in this topic.

I claimed that:

1) Capitalism is killing the planet through climate change.
2) Capitalism is destabilizing local, regional, national, and international politics and culture.
3) Capitalism is leaving people feeling hopeless about the future.
4) Capitalism funnels an increasing and disproportionate amount of political and economic power to the owners of capital.
5) Capitalists say we should address inequality after we give the capitalists everything, but we get increasing equality and not the help.
6) Capitalists use the everything we gave them to keep them getting the money and us not getting the help.

I can support each of these statements easily. Can you refute them? Which of these is not occurring?

If "humanity itself" is "in decline", what's causing it? What does that even mean? Does that make our material conditions worse? If so, why? If not, does that mean you're claiming material conditions are improving? If so, how & could it be improving in a better way?

There is no such thing as a rough patch in capitalism if you agree with antifragile principles. Or even less recent, just cf disaster capitalism

Nominally socialist countries/regions tend to have better quality of life indicators than capitalist ones when gdp per capita is accounted for.

All powerful countries currently live under neoliberal capitalism, with varying degrees of political engagement and varying levels of a legacy welfare state. Neoliberal capitalism is a political, economic, and ethical system that prioritizes free markets, deregulation, privatization, and austerity above all else. It makes the market the central institution of life and seeks to organize everything along market principles.

As you can see if you read closely, "poverty exists" was not one of my arguments. I listed them out so that you know what they are, do you care to respond to them rather than shifting the conversation to the perceived failures of socialism? This topic is about capitalism, so lets talk about capitalism.

If you wanna talk about reputable studies, let's talk about bullet point one at least. All reputable studies show that our current methods of capitalist production are baking the planet. We know that for a fact.

And speaking of autocratic policies, there's no conflict between autocracy and capitalism. They're very well acquainted.
