In the work field that's called harassment. And no I've not personally encountered it.

By my boss.

This was back in the early 2010s mind.

There was my boss and three of us in a particular lab. She singled out one and gave him privileges while myself and the other worker were denied potential for advancement.

Worst work experience of my life. Thankfully things are better.

I feel like people have different takes on bullying. Some friends may talk to each other in a way another would feel is bullying. And since you put it in quotes, I especially have no idea what type of example you'd mean lol.

But as an adult, I feel like you should be able to tell when someone doesn't react well to your abrasive personality and you should lay off. It's not hard to tell when someone isn't a fan of being poked at. But if you engage and then try to say you were bullied because you didn't win the verbal squabble, that's another thing too. It's very nuanced.

Multiple people did everything they could to bother me when they found out I wouldn't/couldn't speak.

Yes, when they found out I was the one dropping the deuces in the restroom wastebasket, they stopped inviting me to bagel Wednesday and any birthday cake event, I got even though by continuing to drop deuces all over the shop

I'm a workplace bully tbh
One time someone kept shitting in the garbage can in the bathroom. After a thorough investigation, I deduced who it was and told everyone that would listen.

We all made jokes about him behind his back. I even started the rumor that he ate his own poop. Because of that people stopped inviting him to food events. Like everyone didn't want him getting his shit crumbs on food so they didn't tell him about breakfast or birthday food things in the break room.

I think he's having a nervous breakdown now. I keep finding human shit all over the place. We all have a good laugh about it at his expense. I'm not even sure it's him, but we all keep blaming him.

At my old job I was. The whole place was trash though. My boss was having sex with my supervisor both were married and he ALWAYS took her side. My teams lead was her daughter who married my bosses boss. The whole place reeked of nepotism. Anyway my lead loved to micromanage us and one day we were short people so the line was moving slow. She kept getting on me to do my job instead of talking but I can't do my job if I've got no materials. She kept on me all day until I blew up at her. She continued to harass and bully me for 6 months until I just up and quit. $7.25 an hour was not enough to deal with all of that drama.

At my old job this guy would say things like
hey youre so big!! Youre so big you scare my wife or other youre fat jokes. I was too embarrassed about being a heavy guy to goto HR or even say something back. He also did it in the John Pinet voice.

Why is it only bullying if it's harassment too?

Yes, which is why I quit. Inhuman leadership that only care about breaking people down.

Yes they gave me secretary work. Also allowed me to be sexually harassed by clients and laughed about it. Someone pulled me aside to warn me that he overheard them talking about how they can get away with it all because I was on a work visa and they can make me do any crap work. He told me to be careful around them. Confirmed all my suspicions.
