The one that doesn't have fanfic tier lore tied to it

Something about the gameplay/chart style of KH doesn't click with me.

Having recently played both, I much prefer the gameplay/visual presentation of Melody of Memory. But Theaterhythm has the much better tracklisting of course.

MoM really got me into the game and the songs that stood out to me the most in it weren't even my favorite/most memorable songs in the KH games, just random high energy stuff that was engrossing to git gud at with that much more energetic presentation.

Compared to Theaterhythm where you are just seeing dots move left to right while a completely ignorable auto battler happens in the background.

I liked both but absolutely hated the gameplay for melody of memories

Only played a little bit of both, but Theatrhythm just felt like a much more well put together game.

Melody of Memory didn't feel as satisfying to play, and maybe it was just me but it felt like the prompts for some songs weren't actually on beat with the song. Or maybe there was a slight lag because of the Switch being the Switch. Not sure, but I never felt that way with Theatrhythm, which I also played on the Switch.

KH has great music, but Melody of Memory felt kinda underwhelming.

Melody of Memory feels half baked, doesnt really do a good job at representing the series, and has a severe lack of variety. The main style of songs suffer from poor performance, depth of field issues, cluttered screen, poor representation of information, and just plain dumb-looking actions like flying for the green notes. It doesnt feel like it was made by a professional team, and feels like a fan mod. Then there are the boss songs which are just.. Basically an FMV mini game where you hit the notes and watch Sora roll around like an idiot dodging attacks. Then, there is the Memory mode which is just Event songs from TR.

TR on the other hand, has a ton of love put into it. It works smoothly, is stylish, has depth to the RPG mechanics (especially in FBL, where it is required to have good party builds for Quest Missions). Tons of easter eggs, tons of music, and really fun charts for songs.

Basically, TR is a love note to fans of FF music. MoM is an experiment that seemed to get rushed out the door with reused assets and unfinished ideas.
