Based on a real world sport but set in a fantasy world that revolves around that game. Similar to how some of the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis games work. Maybe they could do a different sport than golf or tennis though. Preferably a team sport might be best for this idea. Soccer, American Football, Baseball, Hockey (but probably unlikely that last one since I don't think Japan cares at all about Hockey) You can level up your players. You get experience from playing matches. There is a jrpg style storyline. With a villain and everything. But instead of fighting battles, you save the world through sports playing. ...
