My current system is:
Ryzen 3900X
32gb DDR4
3080 Ti

Rest is moot and will go over to new system just fine.

I don't do fuckall else on this system than game, really. Wanna stick with AMD for the upgrade, thinking either 7900X3D or 7950X. And then there's the whole load of motherboard types for this socket; I'm thinking prob 670E just for more PCIE lanes? RAM has always been one of the most confusing parts to me, with the clocks and CAS latency being kinda inversely related and me not being super firm on where to strike a good balance.

Micro Center is running what seems like a very attractive deal:

Should I just just say fuckit and get that? The RAM doesn't have pretty lights, but... meh. I have ~$2k I can throw at this upgrade, and that'd leave a lot of space for creature comforts like also getting a new case that doesn't suck ass and (possibly, if necessary) a new CPU cooler.

I don't see why you'd need to upgrade

I don't NEED to.

I'd sure like to, though.

Your system is fine. I have an RTX 2080 and 32GB RAM and I can pretty much max any game at 1440p/60FPS and most games at 1440p/120-144FPS.

Look, I know it's fine. I can hit 4k/60 max in most games native, and the rest with DLSS/FSR.

But I want it to be FINER

I was gonna suggest upgrading the CPU to a 12900K, but if you're sticking with AMD, then I know fuck all about their CPUs lol.

I'd leave the RAM alone unless you want to upgrade to 64Gb or make the jump to DDR5. Because going from 32Gb to 32Gb just for the RGB is not really worth the money imo. But I have Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ram sticks and they've been great so far.

Here's the 64 (2x32) DDR5 sticks

How much finer? Doesn't seem like you're bottlenecked at all.

If I were to upgrade, I would consider just swapping the CPU for a 5800X3D.

yeah im srs too. like i guess cpu/ram upgrade is nice but will you really notice it outside of benchmarks dude????? like with rtx 4090 you can start hitting above 4k 60 fps w/ raytracing ON maxed out in some titles where the 3080ti will struggle.

also im aware that 4090 bottlenecks cpus that came out around 2018-2020 era like 9900k and 3900x. but should still be higher performance than 3080ti + upgraded cpu

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAgvcF-dp7U

^ see the diff in some titles? in some titles 3080ti is doing SUB 60 FPS!!!!!!!! the 4090 retains above 60 fps. This is highly noticeable outside of benchmarks imo. dude is using a 9900k too which does bottleneck 4090 btw. you can tell by seeing that the 4090 is only at like 80% usage lol
