The world is getting much more peaceful:
"The absolute number of war deaths has been declining since 1946. In some years in the early post-war era, around half a million people died through direct violence in wars. In recent years, the annual death toll tends to be less than 100,000."

I know people want to say the world "keeps getting worse", but the numbers do not lie, the world is much more peaceful than it ever has been (This is despite the world population keeping going up, so the picture is so much better "world percentage"-wise.)

Its better technology wise. But worse for everything else.

I'm not denying people are still getting fucked but compared to even just the 1900s it's better.

Yeah, not like a right-wing fascist literally tried to overthrow the government and is getting off scott free and has a decent chance of becoming president again or anything. Or multiple states literally outlawing basic bodily care for women and entire classes of LGBT people. Or the rapid normalization of hate speech, and the normalization of mocking those who want to correct it. Or states taking over public education to prevent discussion of minorities and their history in the US. Literal whitewashing of history so that people aren't aware that we are repeating the past.

Better in some ways (broader societal acceptance of racial/sexual minorities - in the west at least), worse in others (we are hardly even slowing down the climate crisis)

It's getting way better by any metric , as far as quality of life. Some of our grand parents were getting machine gunned down by Germans in WW2 and dying at 19 years old. Meanwhile we sit in comfortable apartments with extreme luxury and argue on the internet about trans people.

The world is getting better but people's attitudes are getting worse because they base their opinions off the internet instead of real life. The internet is a shithole.

As far as that climate crap , the world isnt actually going to end in 7 years or any of that bullshit. Pollution is a major problem but if you've looked into climate alarmism , they have been warning of our imminent destruction since the 1960s when Silent Spring was released.

The USA is getting worse so that probably contributes to the perception of folks thinking the world is overall getting worse.

I'd say in most places its getting better going by statistical data however.

I voted worse and I do think that I need to have a more positive mindsight. But yeah it's just hard. Feels like the worst there was another shooting.

Tbf the question is about people.

But the history says all we need to know. As the years go by, fewer people are slain by their fellow man than the previous years. Horrific genocides like the Holocaust merely make the 20th century almost as bloody as the 19th.

Life is improving, too slow for some and too late for many, but someday we'll finally have world peace.

There's definitly a big decline in the last years and I hate saying that because I feel like a boomer

Yeah, I do think it's getting better and am optimistic it will keep getting better in all areas.

Are there bad spots? Of course. But I try not to let instances, which are relatively short in time in the grand scheme of things, bring me down.

I don't know man. The way the world has changed in just the past decades is mind-blowing, and what really hurts is seeing how much better it could be if we had just done things slightly different

Worse: Inflation without payscale is making things more unaffordable, we're close to another World War, the US is close to some crazy political shit happening, and climate change might fuck everyone up

Better: Technology, medicine, inclusion (which also might be worse)
