As far as I can tell, that's the same idea hockeybub is expressing, just with more frustration because people here seem to be advocating for the "just ignore anything that doesn't affect you and make small talk for 80 years" method of politics. We cannot simply say "I'm happy, I see that X group is suffering, but I'm going to just focus on my family and friends" and think that things will work out dandy. Oppression grows and justifies itself by its example.
