Here's how I usually differentiate them: Bad movies are good when they know they're bad. Example: Low budget horror like "Killer Couch" or "VelociPastor". Also camp movies that you know aren't presenting themselves as "real, like the Fast/Furious franchise. Crap movies are ones that were made with the intentions on being good, but just fell flat. Example: Star Wars Episodes 7-9 --- It takes zero effort to be a good person. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I like when the person doesn't realize it's a bad movie when they made it. I feel bad for the person and their dream falling short, but it's just so much better when it's not self aware. A recent movie on Hulu called Private Property is a perfect example. They really think they're saying something while feeling like a drunk 14 year old wrote it. Like, the Star Wars movies are BAD movies, but they weren't made to be bad movies, so that makes them crap. Whereas the "Giant Octopus vs Mega Shark" people know exactly the kind of movie they are making. It's Bad, but it's supposed to be Bad. But when the main male character comes in, it's constantly super awkward and confusing to a point you don't know what is intentional and what wasn't. I don't even know how much knowing this plays into it. Me and my cousin put it on as a serious movie to watch lol. It's also weird how there's no established people covering reviews for it on Youtube. It has a few notable people in it. Apparently a chick from Pretty Little Liars is the main chick. And then a guy from SNL shows up and it's like....why is he here... I won't say who.
