Gothic 1. Chill game.

I played a mage. Started off super weak. progression to become very strong near the end of the game was super relaxing. Pays off too imo because by the endgame the most viable approach is spamming the wave of death spell. Kills majority of creatures in 1 or 2 hits. The ones that require more just need to be ice blocked (an early spell) and then just spam tf out of wave of death. the spell even goes through walls too so easy to just hide behind a wall. Has a large 360 degree radius.

Between 2-6 Four Lokos daily or about six to nine 9.5% Voodoo Ranger Juice Force IPAs (the tall 19.2ozers). Every day for a few months. I hated my job and hated my life and I just drank hard after work every day. I was definitely drunk at work the next day but somehow managed. I quit almost cold turkey when I landed a new position with an awesome job and my second day on the job I had a panic attack so bad that I was taken out on an ambulance because it started getting to the point where I literally could not move my lips, it felt like there were headphones on my head, and my hands were totally locked up and couldn't move. It was absolutely scary.

This, one of my favorite games ever. Slay the Spire you can get completely lost in.

I've been sober for a year and 7 months, I feel you and what you are going through. Kudzu and green tea helped a bit with the withdrawl, but a lot of it is waiting it out, dealing with the pain and insomnia, it will eventually pass. I had a bit of delirium when I was going through it, was hallucinating, hearing things that weren't there, and believing the short dreams I was having were real events.

I'm around here a lot if you want support, advice, or just someone to talk to.

Animal Crossing is very relaxing. It has this whole attitude about it that everything is going to be okay, just fix things at your own pace.

It's the kind of game where it's very easy to start the game, but if you don't feel like playing it, you can just quit and still feel like you progressed.

Shit man, I had some struggles with alcohol myself, so I know how hard that shit is. I didn't drink daily, but I drank very high amounts when I was drinking 2-3 days a week. Hope you recover and you are able to get a handle on the problem. Best of luck!

Edit: Let me add to this for a bit. I would drink a few beers a night, and possibly a six pack + a few extra on the weekends before this for quite a few years. When I was like that, I could quit and just maybe feel irritable or crave a drink, but what I wrote above was over the period of three months.
I was drinking like 15-20 beers a day with lots of random liquor mixed in for like a year+. Withdrawaling from that was the absolute worst nightmare. You should be proud of yourself for making such a good change.

I've been playing Medieval Dynasty, it's a town-building/survival game that's basically like if someone took the settlement building from Fallout 4, made it actually work, then scaled it up and turned it into a whole game. And they give you a bunch of customization options to cut down on the tedium, so for example you can turn off carry weight, turn off hunger, shorten or lengthen seasons, increase/decrease XP gained, etc.

If you're looking for more of a "shut your brain off" type of game, I found Powerwash Simulator to be both relaxing and incredibly satisfying. It's almost like a reverse coloring game, and it has a surprising amount of content to keep you busy for hours.

Doing something similar, luckily I'm not physically addicted but decided to quit drinking liquor which I would do every day around 7pm till I pass out. Only been a few days but already the constant pain in my liver is mostly gone and my debilitating gagging fits are extremely reduced. Still getting used to it, I'll reach for my glass absent mindedly often, especially while playing games I normally drink with.

To piggyback on the topic, any PS5 games y'all might recommend? I wanna branch out and play things that don't remind me of drinking -_-

I recommend CrossCode. The devs patched in an assist mode into the game that makes it quite easy and when you crank the difficulty down it's very relaxing to just run around and explore the world. It has a nice story too.

I think it's not as stressful as other games next to it is because even when you die you're working towards being stronger and passive progress. So, there's always hope that lil boost will allow you to go a lil further even if your skill stays the same.

That but it's also the flow of the combat and movement. Nothing feels like it requires twitch reaction. Everything is a bit floaty.

It is a fantastic program though.

But Zooming through NYC is really something.

Yup, my job at that time was mostly why I drank, it was so miserable. Only by moving to a better one was I able to kick the booze.
