I haven't watched Survivor since S40 aired but hasn't this always been the case?

well... 41 and 42 had female winners, and tonight's episode of 44 had a male player voted out, so, I dunno....

My knowledge of Survivor is gleaned through roommates who are fans, and this article but: since the pandemic they have reduced the length of the competition from 38-39 days to 26 days. In order to try and recreate the toll on the body a longer season would have, there has been an increase in challenges that are highly physically demanding (at the expense of puzzles/other less physical tasks). In order to eliminate players at a faster rate, they've been split into three tribes, two of which will vote out a member after each round of challenges.

Through four seasons of this format, women players have been disproportionately voted out early on, presumably as players try to preserve their smaller tribe's physical strength, so as to win challenges and reduce their personal risk of getting voted off.

What did Survivor (American TV series) mean by this?

Really, 43 seasons. Who watches this tripe?

From all the clips I've seen of this show in the past, the women are usually the ones that fail >_>

My knowledge is from actually watching the show

the 3 tribe format, now standard in seasons 41-44, started in season 8, which was in the mid 2000s. Season 12 featured a 4 tribe format, divided by gender and age but only through one vote, and season 13 featured a 4 tribe format, divided by race, which lasted through 2 votes.

the older seasons were a lot more interesting anyway

Speaking as someone who has watched every episode of all 44 seasons, women should have it easier now than ever. They don't even do physical challenges anymore that rely on pure strength, but you can bet than when there is a balancing aspect to a challenge the beam, platform, whatever they are balancing on is the same size for each player giving the women and their small feet an unfair advantage.

As someone who actually watches Survivor and has for a long time... that's a load of crap.
