In tennis they enforce this exact situation. I remember around a year ago I was watching one of the Opens, and someone got kicked out. The players stopped and refused to continue until the noisy person was removed. So the person was removed

in basketball, the crowd is encouraged to make noise while the opposing player shoots free throws. they even drop "thunder sticks" from the ceiling to distract the opposing players

Yeah, really the only reason that this story could, well, become a story, is because she was screaming at the home team when it was quiet otherwise, lol. And it'd be some BS to kick someone out for that.

And it's a funny story, but tbqh, I doubt it really affected any of them.

Not often, no. But the whole correlation/causation thing, and the fact that these guys already shoot a ton of free throws with practically all 20k people in the building yelling (with loud whistling as they're about to shoot being common too). Plain old cold stretches happen, guys missing a couple then it getting in their heads leading to continued bad shooting, etc.

The fact that this is remotely getting attention tells me that Raptors fans are a bunchy of salty bitches.

Her concentration to scream at the exact perfect moment is something else.

More context:

• Raptors ranked below the league average in FT% in the regular season
• All the Raptor players shot well below their FT% this game (pretty much everyone at 50%). Some of these % weren't great to begin with but the biggest offender here is FVV who shot nearly 90% from the line in the regular season
• Derozan is a former long time Raptor star player. I am sure he used his connections to get his family such good seats for the game. That bridge might be burned.
• The Canadian Raptor fans are wise enough to know not to make any noise during free throws their team takes. Which means the stadium was essentially dead silent so the screaming was very loud to everyone.

Did it actually make any difference? I have not the slightly clue. I could see that it could have and I could see how it couldn't have. Players are generally pretty mentally fragile when it comes to shooting and will grasp at any excuse they can get. So perhaps look for them to say that it did make a difference. Either way expect teams to reconsider giving good seats to opposing teams players now for the rest of these playoffs.

This is the narrative driven shit that has little to do with the actual game going on that ESPN just eats up though. Expect them to run the story into the ground.
