I believe it has to be cooked meat. Something about changes in protein structure of cooked meat and needing less energy to digest so the excess energy fueled our ancestors' brain evolution.

It literally doesn't matter what the ratio is, it will be way less what's needed to make a steak.

It's not that. Cooking kills parasites and bacteria which helps with survival but the main reason meat was helpful is because it was fatty. Fat is good for brain development.

A cow can be used multiple times. A plant cannot. More uses come from one cow than a one plant. And it takes more plants to feed one human than it does a cow, which can feed multiple humans.

The mental gymnastics vegans do to excuse the fact that they put animals above the environment is nuts. One of the biggest cases of cognitive dissonance in the country.

It takes 3 years to raise a cow exclusively for slaughter. After butchering, there will be about 600 pounds of beef (not counting bones or offal).

If everyone eats half a pound of beef for the whole day, then you've spent 3 years and tens of thousands of pounds of plant food to give 1200 people one small meal.

Your utopia scenario assumes people will be fed the right amount and that corporations will produce the right amount. They absolutely will fucking not. You already see this at play with the meat industry. We don't need all that fucking meat to survive, but they make it in abundance. Even when there's a "chicken shortage", we still surprisingly have enough to eat and then some.

Not to mention that we don't need high quality plants to feed mass produced livestock. They can get the worst of the worst and still come out fine for consumption. Meanwhile we would have to make MANY changes to make mass produced plants safe for consumption.

But yeah, keep performing those gymnastics to sleep better at night I guess. Just admit you care more about animals because they have eyes. At least fungi can mass communicate with eachother without yelling.

50% of human edible food we produce is fed to livestock because of cosmetic issues.

I'm probably way too late for people to see it now, but if the numbers I read were right, the cows lost here were about 0.1% of cows in the state of Texas, and about 2.8% of its dairy cows. It's about 0.19% of the dairy cows in the whole US. I really don't see it having an noteworthy impact on dairy prices with how much dairy goes to waste.

The point is, all these animals are mass produced and if everyone stopped eating meat tomorrow - where would they go? Do you send them back in the wild where they will reproduce and will eat all the plants anyway, or do you kill them all? Both scenarios contradict your point.

Changes in society don't happen at the snap of a finger. Meat demand decreases, less animals are bred, and existing mass produced ones slowly die out. And then guess what...we stop purposely breeding huge amounts of animals and killing them.
And it's not like cows won't still exist for xyz reasons. We just fuckin stop mass producing them to be killed.

Like come on guys, do you really think this is some gotcha?

I really am considering a vegetarian lifestyle (or at least trying it) because of how horrible the farming industry is. It just seems wrong and I honestly think that more people would be turned off of meat if they saw the entire process.

Quickest way to turn someone vegetarian is to have them read The Jungle by Upton Sinclare.

I keep seeing this and I know all about slaughter houses but man 18,000 diary (sp) cows to die for nothingness. Sad.

That's all well and good, until someone in authority decides society isn't changing fast enough - usually someone in California.

That video was more tripper than I remember. Also yea I do eat meat. I don't say a prayer before every meal but I like the survival shows. I think it was this Matt in Dual Survival he would say a prayer after a hunt. I could never ever have the heart to kill an animal. But he seemed so genuine and how it was in a survival situation.

I would just eat plants to try and survive heh.
