I never understood that. It costs a lot per year to house a Inmate. If you wanna talk legal fees or whatever for their attempts to appeal people simply with life do that too.

That said I feel the death penalty should be used rarely. Only in cases where there is absolutely zero doubt they are guilty of a heinous crime.

We can never be 100% sure. Stuff can be faked people can be framed. Cops, lawyers and judges can be corrupt. And we are literally in the time period of the rise of technology that let's people fake images and voices. Someone could easily produce a fake video of a person killing someone. Or use a fake phone call of someone admitting to a crime
