Holy shit that movie was a trip. I feel like it's going to get shit on for its run time and the magical realism but it's a great movie.

My ranking of Ari Aster's movies would now be Hereditary > Beau is Afraid > Midsommar

All great tho

I'm kind of looking forward to watching it, but I didn't like Hereditary, and I was "meh" on Midsommar.

Gonna be honest you're probably not gonna like this unless you really like Joaquin Phoenix. The movie is intentionally confusing and deceptive up until a certain point in which it flips it while still being intentionally confusing and deceptive. People will probably call it self indulgent or pretentious but imo I think it's everything a fan of Ari Aster's previous work wanted from it.

Give it a try, you might like it. I go alone all the time and it's fantastic, not having to worry about finding someone interested or a time that works for everyone.

I used to NEVER even consider it as an option til the last year or so til I needed to kill a few hours and saw Barbarian. I'm hooked on solo theater trips now. Definitely something worth trying at least once!

Still thinking about this dang movie tbh. I like it more today than I did yesterday. It's a top 5 Joaquin performance

This definitely seems like the kind of movie that'll come away with, like, a D on Cinemascore. Not because it's bad, but I don't think it's gonna be anything like what people are expecting it to be.

Im flying solo to this tomorrow and extremely hype, I love aster, I love a24, Joaquin, and I love movies that try new things

The cinematography is probably the best part of the movie. It's really beautiful

More anxiety inducing than anything. Something along the same lines as Uncut Gems. It's a dark comedy with horror elements I guess, but it's mostly a dark comedy with emphasis on the dark.
