I really like the Wizzrobe miniboss in the Wind Temple. It's cool how it summons tough enemies and another summoning Wizzrobe.

Laruto said she was killed by Jahalla.
I bet that was a really hype, action packed fight.
They both seem so powerful. One takes 16 days to shoot fire in the wrong direction and the other one managed to lose to that.
Well if MM's Zora mask and TP's Zora armor are any indication, Zoras are very vulnerable to fire. And we don't know what, if any, combat experience or capability Laruto had. All Jahalla has to do is lock the door and keep slowly spitting fire and eventually she's gonna tire out and burn.

I honestly prefer the look of the original to the HD version. And I always loved sailing so I never had a problem with the Tri force section. But it is nice to have the Gamepad for switching items and gyro aiming.
I felt the same way about the graphics. The original is much more cartoony, which works well with the models. Eventually I grew to appreciate the HD version's look too though. It really is pretty.

Agreed that the triforce hunt gets too much hate. Exploring and treasure hunting are more fun to me than dungeons in Zelda games though, so I might be in the minority on that. The swift sail definitely makes sailing less tedious though. Not having the play the requiem for every minor change of direction is great. And also I love having the inventory and charts on the gamepad and switching items on the fly.

This is true but the boss room had light sources, the slightest touch of light and the fire attack is cancelled and he's helpless on the ground.
Laruto had the same instrument Medli had and that thing could redirect light. The light sources in that room were coming from above which means it could be pointed in any horizontal direction too.

Also can sages not teleport or call for help or something? They were able to appear in that trippy sage room in OOT.

I like that if you finish him, the summoned enemies stick around and have to downgrade to the regular enemy music.

And then the last Darknut is probably thinking "Heh I'm the last one, I outlasted the miniboss, I'm gonna look good coming out of this no matter what happens." so I made sure to parry his armor off, throw his own sword at him, repeatedly boomerang him, take his knight's crest with the grappling hook, boomerang him one more time and then finish him with the skull hammer spin attack.

I'm doing the experiment.
I have the hookshot and the big key, I'm leaving Molgera until after I have all the triforce shards. Provided this is actually something the game will let me do.

Oh well that was about as lucky as it gets.
I got the ghost ship chart, went outside and the thing was there within plain sight, the wind was even facing the right way.

It's kinda weird having one of the ghost ship's locations be where the chart is. Like it potentially takes away some of the effort it takes to get in and therefore some of the mystique.

I got all 8 triforce shards, King of Red Lions went "Well done, we must go to Hyrule right away!" even though I haven't finished the Wind Temple.

I teleported to Tower of the Gods, the king's just stopped me to tell me I cannot kill Ganon until the sword's been fully repaired. I'm guessing this is a message that unconditionally plays if you sail to the spot where the warp appears before you have anything though.

I'm thinking the game didn't expect me to max out the Triforce of Courage before powering up the sword, because now it looks like the king wanted to go to Hyrule but then remembered something or changed his mind.

Speaking of forgetting about things, I wonder how Makar's doing on his own in the Wind Temple?

There, got the new LED lights from the Earth Temple, got the batteries from the Wind Temple and got the very important yellow triangle.

And good luck to Makar, the plant based life form from a place with lots of greenery and water who has decided to try his hand at living in this actual desert of a boss room.

I think it's kinda meh how you destroy the barrier and continue into Hyrule, but it's still only playing the song from the forest right at the beginning. Unique enemy music for underwater Hyrule might have been cool too.

Things that happened in the boss rush.
1- I am not sure to this day if it's the dev intended strategy so climb up the grappling hook, stand on the last bar, back up an inch then jump and deku leaf across, letting go at the last second so Link grabs the platform. Gohma went down in four hits which is the same as a Bokoblin.
2- In Kalle Demos' part I inexplicably got a parkour roll I didn't ask Link to do when I jumped on to one of the platforms and then went in the pit. Neat.
3- They almost got me in the Earth Temple area where they make you watch that Stalfos spawn. The stairs were going up, I managed to get on either the last or second last and ride it up.
4- The Wind Temple one made me feel dumb. I was trying to perfect a launch into deku leaf glide all the way across. Then I noticed the hookshot symbol on the wall.

I could really do without the boomerang puzzle in the next part solving itself twice over in the most patronising way.
The boat appearing from darkness like he's arrived to perpetrate the world's lamest betrayal is pretty funny and makes up for it though.

Okay I actually just got hyped up by Zelda Wind Waker. Hitting three shots on the Puppet Ganon snake form is the best.

I'm gonna be fair and give old manondorf a chance to try and top that but I'm thinking there's no way Puppet Ganon isn't the best fight in this game.

Furthermore you know what? I like Ganon's tower in this game. The YTP boss rush area, the weird puzzle section for first timers, this boss and another one who is hopefully good. It's a good mix.
Much, much better than TP's last level and I don't remember enjoying OOT Ganon's tower that much.

And done.

Rushes Link bare handed. Puts him on the ground in seconds, Link stays down long enough for a whole Ganon speech and exchange with the king.
Pulls out two swords and unleashes his faces of evil to the fullest extent. Slain easily by the same post-beatdown Link.

That's a great cutscene before the fight though.
And the end is nice too. The last surviving Ocarina oO Time character has been banished. The temple dwellers and Tetra are free to return to the surface and be Wind Waker characters again.

Overall I'm happier with this than I expected it to be. I remembered it being like following directions and not really getting much say in where you go or how you tackle things. I think working the triforce shards into my route early added some good variety and I definitely prefer it to playing a bunch of temples then being told to go and marathon all 8 shards.
I feel like if you were free to get all your items earlier in the game, it'd be better too. It sucks seeing an island in the distance, going there and finding out you don't have the item to access it.
Ganon's tower as a whole is the best part no contest.

I could never get into the style they brought to the game.

For those around when it came out, you should remember the controversy. We were expecting a more realistic style as some trailers showed, but got some football shape headed link. WTF even was that

Its one of the best looking Zelda games snd no trailers had it looking realistic only an early Gamecube tech demo.

Semantics, point being, we were shown a more detailed and realistic GameCube Zelda game and then didn't get it until Twilight Princess. I'm still irked by that to this day.

I'm glad you like Ganon's Tower, I really like it too. The boss rush is really cool IMO. I like how each area has a mashup of the Ganon's Tower theme and the dungeon theme. Then the bosses themselves. The monochrome (or in the HD version, saturated color) with the distorted boss themes makes the boss fights feel ethereal.

Fun fact: not only are you reduced to the items you had in the original fight for the boss rematches (with some exceptions like the Master Sword), but your amount of Rupees is also changed to the amount you had in the original boss fight. Really cool detail.

Interesting. Does that allow for some free magic armor blocks in the remake? Or does it deduct it from your actual count? Or does the game take away the magic armor regardless of whether you had it then or not? Or am I actually mistaken in thinking they made the armor cost money instead of magic in the remake?

I felt like this at first, but came around. The style still holds up imo, but I prefer the HD one on the Wii U graphically.

I'm actually not sure. It's an interesting question.

But yes, the HD version does change it to using Rupees instead of magic.
