It was alright

What'd you play it on? Crimson Butterfly was a watershed game for me.

I think I'm on the second to last chapter. "Alright" is a pretty good descriptor. I'd give it like a 6/10-ish. Combat is pretty subpar and it feels a bit repetitive. I know combat is not the point of the game but you have to engage in it quite a bit. The flashlight was especially boring to use.

The atmosphere was pretty good and the story was kind of interesting. The lore was very confusing for most of the game though, I'm still not 100% sure on what exactly "blossoming" and "moonlight syndrome" are, or at least the finer details of them.

Probably an unpopular opinion among Fatal Frame fans but I think I liked Maiden of Black Water a tad more. Overall I can tell this was originally a Wii game that came out in 2008.

3 is now the only FF I haven't played.

I think Maiden of Black Water has way better gameplay but everything else about it besides the graphics is worse. I wish they had put more effort into the gameplay for Mask of Lunar Eclipse because they clearly didn't put much effort into converting the controls to a controller.

I'd agree Maiden had a worse story. Both Maiden and Eclipse have the same issue though where the lore and background information gets more and more muddled and confusing the longer the game goes on and the more notes you pick up. In both games I feel like I understood the big picture of what was going on but if you asked me to explain in detail I would be too confused.

I don't remember if the first two games were like this, but I played them back in like 2006.

I like how every character runs with 0 urgency. Like there is no present danger to their lives.

At least in The Maiden of Water of Color they have some pep in their step.

Yeah the characters moving really slowly got old really fast especially when I kept getting lost so levels were taking me like five times longer than they should have.

Also the final boss was too easy
