Ive not really played anything yet thats completely blown me away. It kinda feels more like a PS 4.5 than a PS5 and with most games being available for both last gen and current gen Im kinda disappointed.

Add to that were still relatively new into this gen and already a lot of games that seem to be trying to push the consoles are struggling.

The fact a lot of the big AAAA games ask you if you want to prioritise frame rate over graphics is telling.

Im not trying to shit on this gen. Im hoping its just a mix of companies trying to either develop games for both gens and not really figuring out how to unlock the true power of this gen and itll get better in time.

I am disappointed with the news we will be looking at a PS5 pro in the next year or so which seems really early considering I dont think any devs have really gone all out of developing solely for the PS5 so far.

I dont think weve seen TRUE next gen games since most of them have been developed for both gens. But yeah the PS5/series X has been more about a slightly better graphic fidelity at 60 FPS. Although there isnt much space left to do graphical leaps. Games are already pretty realistic looking and full on reality would be boring. Its more about what technology today allows you to do for gameplay while running at constant frame rates, less to none loading times..etc

It's been like that from ps4 and ps5
consoles just don't have the ability to output graphics and frames on par with a top end pc

before it was '60 fps, at whatever internal resolution'. Now it's '4k 60fps but sometimes 1080p at sub 30fps is a aaa game so deal with it'

which sucks

The one glaring caveat being interactable realism. Static environments are now looking pretty realistic without being pre-rendered like back in the resident evil one days, but for the mass vast majority of it you can even scratch it let alone do any damage beyond somebody pasting a 2d burn texture on top of it.

What I'm still waiting to see is the level of realism in modern gaming but tied to an engine like with the Red Faction games where everything is truly destructible.

The rear view mirror in vehicles doesn't even reflect in Warzone 2.

I think on general, daily technology is starting to get to the limit of whats actually needed.

Im not sure thats 100% true. Console games still look inferior to PC games on the most part.

You still get some pretty bad frame rates with some PS5 games even on performance mode. The latest Horizon DLC is a good example.
