Time is a relative thing. It does not exist independently of matter.

Space, time, and matter are all part of the universe, therefore there can't be a time before the universe as that would be like saying there was a time before time. Makes no sense.

I'm not going to pretend it makes sense to me, but people much more intelligent than me say that it is not so, so unless I'm gonna start a flat-time youtube channel and pretend I know better than all those scientists, I really have no business contradicting them.

I can't remember where it was, but just the other day I was reading something about how pre Big Bang, an unimaginable amount of time could have gone by before the spark that caused everything to start. But because time as we understand it couldn't really exist yet, we would perceive it to have been over in an instant. Basically if the Big Bang is accurate, pre Big Bang is kind of a situation that humans can't comprehend

It also said that given enough time, even the most unlikely random event will happen. Like nothing suddenly turning into everything

Why?
Time is linear, and as a metric can be clearly demarcated between events. Meaning that if, suddenly, the universe sprang into existence then time existed before that happened.

We suppose there was a point where the universe came into existence. The simplest answer is not only did time exist before our universe but that it has always existed.
