Angela is a must. Magic is super useful mid - late game and hers is the best. If you are shooting for all of the endings/trying to unlock everything, I think you can do it all in 2 playthroughs if you optimize with the right teams. I can't remember them off the top of my head though. Basically each character has a partner that they share a boss with. Ending is determined by the leader. Duran/Angela + Reisz/Hawkeye + Kevin/Charlotte each have their own endings.
