At least it doesn't seem to be covering anything that wasn't seen in trailers/preview footage already.

How do we reckon this game will be? I didn't like Breath Of The Wild but everyone else around me loved it. They're hyped so hopefully it lives up to their expectations. : )

I'm getting the impression its much of the same but way more refined and expanding on BOTW's best ideas. Hopefully there's more actual zelda-esque dungeons, but forget about the tightly crafted puzzle solving of older titles. They're very much going down the sandbox, "do it your own way" approach.

I hope there are still tons of tightly crafted dungeons. Most disappointing thing about BOTW - a hundred little mini dungeons doesn't really have the same impact as a few crafted actual dungeons

Yeah, pretty much. I'd think if anybody started posting legit walkthroughs of the game before the NDA window is up they'd be in serious trouble, lol. IGN Japan already got in trouble by showing things they weren't supposed to in the previews.

I think anyone banking on more traditional dungeons will be sorely disappointed. I certainly do hope we get some that are more interesting than the Divine Beasts. I liked the Beasts but they were all mostly the same theme and primarily puzzle-focused.

Large, open-ended dungeons like Hyrule Castle would be even more ideal, but that's also probably unrealistic to expect outside of maybe one area or so.

*art book spoilers ahead, no specifics but spoilers nonetheless*

I get the impression from images shown of ruins that this isn't the case, and while not strictly traditional, that the dungeon design will indeed be following that open ended hryule castle feel

Elden Ring proved you could do various kinds of dungeons, including classics and more open sandboxy ones. I really hope TOTK takes some inspiration from them. Get a bit of both worlds.

Yeah I think a mix of ideas would make for the most fun.

For me, the first 20 hours was at its best when I was just discovering what I can and can't do in this open sandbox world. Where I pick something that looks interesting on the map and just run there knowing that I'm going to discover something cool. Also some of the actual dungeons were pretty great as well. The magic slowly runs out though as it still has that "empty open world" feel and all the shrines (mini-dungeons) are mostly copy and paste puzzles with some really good rewards but mostly just typical crappy ones. If the open world sandbox doesn't fix your fancy, from looking at the trailers, I doubt this new one will do anything new. Luckily my brother pre-ordered the game when it was $60's on amazon, so I'll still be trying it out.
