I always forget how agonizing this time of the contest year is, now Steins;Gate is on life support, how did it finish 3rd last year?? Damn. growing Mushimania is good at least...

Speaking of agonizing, Stan: I've watched episodes 21 and 22 (S;G spoilers) I was literally going to post the Pedro Pascal crying gif in here because episode 21 might be my favourite episode of the series. I was expecting to go into the show with Kirisu being "best girl" but I loved Mayuri right away and she was always my favourite, her diminished role as Okabe was dealing with trying to save her was noticeable (and I caught that being commented on in passing one time in the show a few eps before), so that first half Comima outing and then graveyard scene in the 2nd half. Man!!!!

And then I just watched episode 22 and yeah, ping ponging back and forth here. And also had to screenshot this still that basically describes me in this contest right now as I'm increasingly torn between two choices!

Episode 21 is amazing! I agree, I think that episode pretty much solidified Steins;Gate as my favorite anime. The reveal that the whole reason Okabe developed the Kyouma personality was to save Mayuri and continued to play as Kyouma to make her smile really hit home for me. And it just reinforces how much he cares for all his friends in general and the lengths he's willing to go to make them all happy (and how it crushes him to have to take away that happiness to save Mayuri). Graveyard scene is another one that gets me choked up everything I watch it...same with that Kurisu scene in the stairwell!

Also, when they were erasing the D-Mails to save Mayuri did you figure out that that meant erasing the original one that saved Kurisu as well? Or did you realize it at the same time that Okabe did? And funny you should mention liking Mayuri right away...my friend who binged it was suspicious of her at first and I was flabbergasted and told her she needed to take back whatever mean thing she said about Mayuri. Several episodes later she said Mayuri was the best and very sorry for suspecting her of anything...and then she died for the first time and my friend was beside herself. It was a very funny sequence of events! And I'm personally Mayuri > Kurisu but uh...it is pretty close!

Like I say that but I bought this figure and am very excited for it to come later this year!

Love the figure, very nice! I've never bought any figurines or statues before (really came close to buying some FF7 ones more than once), I think someday when I move out of my shoebox apartment and have more space I'll start buying all these things I keep putting off. Would have to start with Legend of the Galactic Heroes memorabilia though, lol...

Yeah! Though that also reminds me of something that really bugged me around that midpoint, probably episodes 13-14 (maybe 15), when he was constantly trying to save Mayuri and he was doing everything by himself and not telling anyone what was happening/going on. He has all these friends and they could've worked on it together but he carried it all himself and (while recognizing that was all in-character for him to try to fix everything himself) I was getting pretty frustrated there, so it was cathartic when Kirisu finally confronted him and got him to divulge what was happening.

Ashamed to admit I only realized it at same time Okabe did , and I'm not sure why I never thought of that as a possibility!

Probably going to watch the last two episodes tonight and I still have some moments from Episode 1 pretty clearly in my head. I remember Okabe going up to the roof and there's a machine that I'm really pretty sure is the freakin' time machine is there; and I remember hearing a guy scream which prompts Okabe to go see where Kirisu was stabbed and honestly always thought it sounded like Okabe but maybe overthinking things there, guess we'll see. And I also remember she mentioned him trying to say something to her earlier that day too. I remember John Titor posting about being able to "meet yourself" if you time travel but if you did, you'd change world lines, so I am expecting him to go back to that fateful day based on ep 22 ending while trying to avoid running into himself, bringing everything back full circle, ideally happy endings all around... gonna be good!!!
