also its funny that having no life is defined by TC as not having kids or a marriage. Don't kids take up all of your time? Wouldn't they have less of a life?

I don't have much of a life beyond my job, but that's because it's a very family-oriented business as it is.

That, and I tried the whole alcoholism thing, wasn't for me.

Thats why it is generally crucial to find a job that you get some sort of joy from.

Yes its bad.

The reason is that Ive noticed how the 9-5 office job lifestyle makes it very easy to get overweight and unhealthy. And thats just normally. If you get caught in a cycle doing nothing but sedentary things, that can end up being really really bad for you.

Some people I know seem happy and content with just going to bars and drinking and watching sports outside of work
Those people sound even worse than those who's lives revolve around work.

Nothing wrong with taking pride in your work, especially if you're good at it.

Way too many people define success as being married, having kids, owning a house, etc, and that disappoints me. That's someone else's definition of success, not my definition.
Being true to yourself and taking care of people is true success.

So they do have a life? And if they are happy then thats great for them. I had a couple friends who do that but, among other things, but are clearly unhappy. Had to let them go when they started thinking my happiness was a detriment.

I believe thats considered having a life because youre busy and have a lot of things to do outside of work

Maybe you are unaware, but not everyones goal is to constantly be stressed

My life style
Monday through Friday
Wake up at 3am to get ready for work
Leave work at 3pm or later
Bathe
Browse internet/play games til bed time

My weekends
Browse internet/play games
Go to the store if needed

I don't go out, I don't have a social life, I don't have friends and I don't try to chase romance or even just sex.

I won't go as far as to say I'm happy but I don't feel all that bad about it

Hey its me. I'm one of those people...I even have bonus points bc im work from home and on average only spend an hour a day talking to people.

I've been married...didn't end well...ive tried dating, doesnt end well. I don't want kids. Hell I get annoyed taking care of my dog and cat.

My fun is having a few beers and watching sports...or getting high and playing video games. Some might say I'm "wasting" my life but if I'm happy, who cares? I'm not detracting from anyone else by being "selfish".

At the end of it all if I have regrets or w/e that'll be on me. It's cheesy but I'd rather live my way happily than conform and be miserable but do it "bc its what you're supposed to do."

That's a job and I have one of those already.

I'll be honest, I actually enjoy TC's bait threads. I came for the social discord caused by discussions of cultural & economic inequality, and I stayed for the open discrimination. He does know how to get people worked up.

Yall is it bad to have no life outside of your nuclear family? I have so many coworkers that cant even have a drink with friends after work because they gotta get home to the spouse and kids right away.

But that's the most important thing in their life to them, so I can understand it.

It's not for me to make their decisions.

yeah ngl i'd hate my life if after spending all day working i'd have to come home and deal with kids and maybe have 20 minutes of free time until it's time to sleep, but some people enjoy that, more power to them
